Position Overview :
Be part of a cross-functional team that designs and supportsthe future of the North American Freight Railroad Market. You will be workingclosely with subject matter experts, architects, developers, and testers todesign, develop, and support mission-critical systems that form the backbone oftechnologies like network optimization and an autonomous rail network.
We're looking for self-driven individuals who are motivatedto learn new things. You should have a strong sense of ownership through allstages of a project up to and including final customer review and sign-off.
What your day-to-day will look like :
- Help negotiate priorities and resolve conflictsamong project stakeholders (such as customers, product management, andengineering)
- Represent requirements information in graphicalforms that augment textual representations in natural language, including usingmodeling languages already established in the development organization
- Critically evaluate the information gatheredfrom multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level informationinto details, abstract up from low-level information to a more generalunderstanding, distinguish presented user requests from the underlying trueneeds, establish appropriate tracing mechanisms and links between projectartifacts, and distinguish solution ideas from requirements
- Communicate information effectively tocustomers, marketing, managers, and technical staff
To thrive in this role, you have :
- 10+ years of experience in Systems Engineeringand Software Architecture
- Deep understanding of distributes systems,design patterns, architectural styles, and trade-offs
- Experience with cloud technologies
- Experience in designing and supporting missioncritical systems
- Experience in balancing and prioritizing workbased on needs from multiple stakeholders
- Communication skills to talk with individualsand groups about their needs and ask the right questions
- Listening skills to understand what people sayand to detect what they might be hesitant to say
- Observational skills to validate data obtainedvia other techniques and expose new areas for elicitation
Good to have :
- Experience in the Railroad Domain
- Experience with CENELEC (EN 50128 / 50129), USIEEE 1483 / 1012, AREMA Section 17, or similar
