Purpose of Position

This position is responsible for leading the support, data collection and reporting, and related requirements associated with UT System workers' compensation and unemployment programs, including out of state.

Essential Functions

  • Develop and analyze data reports to support WCI claim handling and oversight. Enter and provide accounting information for the unemployment and WCI funds.
  • Prepare weekly analysis of our WCI EDI submissions to the state. Serve as the WCI rep for UT System claims. Manage unemployment reports to monitor trends and identify outliers promptly to take appropriate action to mitigate exposures
  • Facilitate requirements between the insurance carrier and UT System institutions to file out-of-state and international claim.

Facilitate data collection from institutions and compile into response for annual coverage placement.

  • Manage audits for out-of-state workers' compensation insurance (WCI) "true up" with carrier. Gather data from each institution for quarterly reporting and payment to WCI monopolistic states.
  • Communicate with institutions who submit requests from UTS fund to repay reimbursements to states outside of Texas.
  • Maintain current institution contact list for unemployment. Process and act on any unemployment mail that comes to the UT System office.
  • Establish and manage the Medicare portal to ensure timely WCI responses. Create training and presentations that include complex information and data.
  • Manage travel for staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Strong influencing, negotiating, and relationship management skills.
  • Demonstrated analytical problem-solving abilities.
  • Competence in Microsoft Office applications required.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree OR High school diploma or GED and 4 years of administrative experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Proficient in MS Office application, Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint and PowerPoint.

Additional Information

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to a minimum of 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.

Participation in TRS is mandatory.

A background check will be conducted on candidates under final consideration. The background check may include any or all of the following : criminal history check, prior employment verification, education verification, professional references check, and motor vehicle records check.

Background checks are conducted by third-party vendors. Upon request form the third-party vendor, candidates under final consideration must provide the required information for the background checks to be completed.
