Research Associate

We are seeking a highly motivated, organized, process-oriented and results driven Research Associate to join our Transformation team.
This is a lab-based position that requires attention to detail, a focused approach, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, proactive planning, troubleshooting, and delivering high quality output in timely manner.
For the individual who takes this role, they will be instrumental in contributing to the row crop plant production pipelines which involves planning, execution and tracking of the plant production runs following standard protocols.
Responsibilities
- Setup Agrobacterium mediated transformation experiments in row crops to meet the project targets.
- Take observations, collect data, and maintain records in tracking systems.
- Prepare reports and share the results with key stakeholders.
- Work closely with transformation and cross functional teams to develop and execute weekly transformation initiation schedule and plant production handoffs.
- Assist in monitoring key performance indicators (KPI’s) and metrics to determine the health of the pipeline.
- Proactively identify problem areas, troubleshoot and find solutions to overcome the issue.
- Prepare stock solutions and media based on the needs of the team.
- Handle multiple assignments and transitions to new assignments in a sometimes rapidly changing work environment.
- Contribute new ideas to improve plant transformation systems and processes to increase pipeline productivity.
Qualifications
- 2 years’ experience in a tissue culture lab or bachelor’s degree in plant biology, plant science, plant biotechnology or related subject.
- Experience in corn transformation is preferred
- Experience with aseptic conditions, handling plant tissues and plant transformation.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience keeping accurate scientific records via LIMs and laboratory notebooks.
- Experience and knowledge in laboratory safety practices, including use of PPE, SDSs and proper handling and disposal of laboratory waste.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a large lab setting.
- Ability to work independently on individual experiments.
- Excellent organizational, oral and written communication.
