Job Description
The preschool teacher provides a Christ-centered, biblically based environment for children birth through 5 years of age where all children receive a high quality early childhood education while learning the Good News of Jesus Christ.
Under general administrative supervision, plans, develops and instructs students in a team setting, by taking the approved curriculum goals, standards, learning objectives and learning experiences that will contribute to the development of skills and academic achievement.
The position is a full-time job working 40 hours per week at the Irvine campus.
As an Early Childhood Teacher at Mariners Church, you will :
- Nurture Faith and Growth : Establish a warm, accepting, and Christ-centered environment where children can flourish both spiritually and developmentally.
- Develop Engaging Curriculum : Create, implement, and evaluate an age-appropriate, emergent curriculum that stimulates growth and development in both indoor and outdoor settings.
- Plan and Organize : Design and execute a developmentally appropriate program, balancing academic, social, and spiritual activities.
- Communicate Effectively : Engage with parents through various verbal and written methods to keep them informed about their child’s progress, classroom activities, and church events.
Conduct bi-annual Parent / Teacher conferences.
- Assess and Document Progress : Conduct ongoing assessments using the DRDP-15 framework and maintain individual portfolios for each child.
- Participate in Professional Development : Attend MCP staff development days, regular staff meetings, and complete 21 hours of approved professional development annually.
- Uphold Professional Standards : Display spiritual, positive, and professional behavior, adhering to the preschool’s policies and procedures.
- Foster Community : Participate in activities that build community within the school and church throughout the year.

Qualifications and Requirements
- A passion for early childhood education and a heart for sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ with young children.
- Experience working with young children in an educational or caregiving setting.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships with parents and families.
- A commitment to ongoing professional development and a desire to continually improve teaching practices.
- Clear Live Scan and Criminal Background Check
- Minimum of 12 units of Early Childhood Education / Child Development required.
- Current CPR / First Aid Certification
- Record of immunizations : current TB test clearance, MMR, DTaP, annual influenza
- Hours may vary as needed; center open from 7 : 15am-5 : 30pm
