Responsible for ensuring equipment and machinery down-time is kept to a minimum by performing the necessary maintenance. Perform building maintenance as necessary.
Complete duties in a safe, sanitary and efficient manner. An employee working in this area is expected to operate as a member of a team, which includes assisting one another as needed.
This position provides assistance to Mechanic I for production line equipment maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting. In the absence of the Maintenance Mechanic II the Maintenance Technician will perform this job function.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Mechanic I Duties and Responsibilities.
- Make modifications and perform upkeep on existing equipment.
- Respond immediately to production requests. Assess equipment, perform adjustments, repair / replace as needed.
- Perform and document line changeovers for product variety.
- Support creation of Maintenance Work Practices for routine changeovers and PMs.
- Support creation of Training content for maintenance tasks.
- Support a full range of complex layout, assembly, and precise installation for new and used equipment.
- Create estimates and requisitions for necessary materials or parts for projects.
- Assist maintenance and production personnel in problem solving activities.
- Complete assignments in a timely manner.
- Attend seminars, workshops and classes on maintenance related subjects and teach others.
- Keep legible, detailed, and accurate records and logs.
- Load / unload parts and machinery as instructed.
- Minimize downtime by utilizing skills to create operational efficiencies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education Requirements
High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED). Electrical / mechanical trade school desired.
P r evious Experience Requirement
- Food Equipment Maintenance experience : 3 year (Required)
- 2 years in general mechanical repair, preferably machine maintenance required.
Mechanic 1 Duties
Working knowledge of maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of machines and facility electrical and mechanical systems including heating, ventilation, chilling / cooling, compressed air, water supply and other equipment.
Ability to interact with other employees in a professional and courteous manner.
Ability to complete assignments with minimal direction.
Good interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to read and interpret instructions, including blueprints and machine assembly.
Effective problem solving ability, including recommending and taking corrective action.
Ability to operate hand pumps, scales, hand jacks, and other equipment as needed.
Ability to work overtime / weekends and rotate shifts, as assigned.
Obtain and possess a current Forklift Certification.
Work safely at all times and report any unsafe conditions to your supervisor.
Follow all GMP guidelines, company rules, policies, and procedures.
Mechanic II Duties
Read and interpret blueprints, manuals and sketches.
Must be able to operate man lifts, scissor lifts, aerial lifts, and forklifts.
Good working knowledge of processing equipment and maintenance procedures.
Thorough knowledge and experience in the areas of basic mechanics, hydraulics, control valves, pneumatics, schematic diagrams, maintenance, electrical components including solid state controls, motor power, control wiring, and basic process control.
