Job Summary
Under supervision of the Animal Care Business Office (ACBO) Financial Business Officer, this position is responsible for the mission critical function of complex purchasing and accounting / billing of 98% of the laboratory animals purchased UC Davis wide for research and teaching under strict deadlines and in compliance with federal regulations.
Provide operational support for the Animal Care Program inclusive of the coordination & processing of animal transfers, imports and exports (includes UCD, UCD Health, and non-UC customers), coordination of facility maintenance requests and management of keys / access.
Serve as the primary resource to the customers & visitors of the Animal Care business office. Provide business & administrative support of the three Animal Care Program units : Teaching and Research Animal Care Services (TRACS), Campus Veterinary Services (CVS), and the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

- Experience performing data entry functions with a high degree of accuracy for variable data types.
- Experience performing purchasing, accounts payable and other basic accounting processes.
- Interpersonal communication / customer service skills to interact / communicate with a diverse group of individuals (faculty, staff, students, professional researchers, vendors, campus visitors).
- Organizational and time management skills to independently organize work effectively to achieve timely progress on multiple simultaneous projects, distribute effort appropriately among projects, meet strict deadlines and maintain a high level of productivity & effectiveness under a heavy, varied workload.
- Intermediate computer skills using Microsoft Office (outlook, excel, word).
- Skills to interpret and apply University and departmental policy and procedure.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using UC Davis automated systems.
- Analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills to identify and dene problems and recommend and implement solutions.
- Knowledge of university forms, policies and procedures in the areas of general accounting, self-supporting units, accounts receivable, purchasing, and invoicing.
- Familiarity with campus-wide offices, administrative contacts, campus structure and resources.

Department Overview
The Animal Care Business Office (ACBO) provides administrative and operational support for the Animal Care Program (ACP).
Led by the Campus Attending Veterinarian / Associate Vice Chancellor, the ACP provides oversight for the use and care of animals in research and teaching at UC Davis.
- The ACP is organized into three units : 1 Teaching and Research Animal Care Services (TRACS) is the main animal care unit that provides daily care and oversight of animals used in teaching and research at UC Davis;
- 2 Campus Veterinary Services (CVS) is responsible for ensuring that adequate and humane veterinary care is provided to the research and teaching animals at UC Davis;
and 3 Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) oversees the university's animal care and use program and is responsible for reviewing all animal use protocols and amendments, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, inspecting animal facilities and laboratories, and overseeing training and educational programs.

Work Environment
This position is an essential position and may be required to be on campus up to 100% of the position's work schedule during times of reduced or suspended operations.

Work occasional overtime. Restricted vacation during peak periods. A valid CA driver's license, or ability to obtain one, for travel to UCD offices located on & off the main Davis campus.
