OVERALL JOB SUMMARY
The Senior Human Resources Specialist acts as a strategic ally to the executive team and assists in overseeing Human Resources operations, including employee relations, talent acquisition, talent management, orientation, onboarding and offboarding, executing HR initiatives and policies, maintaining personnel records, and ensuring compliance with federal and state laws and regulations.
CORE ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide guidance and mentorship to managers and staff regarding employee interactions, performance evaluations, professional growth, organizational culture, and morale.
Propose, implement and interpret HR policies and protocols.
Oversee and offer counsel on employee relations matters, support leadership in coaching, mediation and problem solving
Maintain and manage employment policies & procedures, compensation, employee benefits, and other HR programs.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor regulations, as well as company guidelines and protocols.
Manage general employee relations issues and investigations as well as performance improvement plans.
Oversee employee recruiting / exit activities, employee benefits / wage & salary programs, employee recognition, employee referral, and employee wellness programs.
Administer and provide recordkeeping of all safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations.
Oversee payroll processing through the ADP system and provide payroll reports and analysis regularly.
Perform Workers' Compensation / Safety claims filing and report in support of NJ Headquarter and Distribution Center Manager.
Administer Unemployment Compensation process and documentation and represent the company in unemployment compensation / insurance matters.
Conduct new employee orientations and appropriate employee training programs.
Manage day-to-day operations of employee benefit programs such as enrolling / terminating health plans and leave of absence.
Stay up-to-date on federal, state, and local regulations governing employee benefits such as ERISA, ACA, HIPAA and COBRA.
Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy
Develop and monitor overall HR strategies, systems, tactics and procedures across the organization
Report to management and provide decision support through HR metrics
REQUIREMENTS :
Strong communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills
Bachelor degree (HR Management degree is a plus, but not required)
Minimum of 5 7 years of HR management experience
SHRM-CP or PHR Certification preferred
Substantial knowledge of State & Federal labor laws
Maintain confidentiality and sensitive information
Demonstrated strong proficiency in and use of Computer skills - Microsoft Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint.
Must have a valid driver’s license
Be able to travel to other states and foreign countries
Be able to work after business hours when required
