Position : Early Learning Center Assistant Teacher
Reports To : Early Learning Center Director
Length of Contract : 12 Months
Evaluation : Annually by school policy
Position Summary : The Early Learning Center Teacher is responsible to guide students in their quest to discern God’s will for their lives at Delmarva Christian Schools.
This employee must have a vibrant personal relationship with Jesus Christ to enable them to reach students by helping develop their God-given intellectual, physical, and spiritual talents.
The Early Learning Center Teacher believes that every student has been created by God uniquely and challenge them to reach their fullest potential.
Preferred Qualifications :
- Vibrant, growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ
- ACSI Early childhood teacher certification (preferred)
- Must be CPR / First Aid certified
- Strong communication skills both written and verbally
- Must meet physical requirements of the position including the ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Responsibilities :
- Collaborate with teachers on lesson planning and lessons.
- Meet the emotional, social, physical and cognitive needs of each child.
- Assistant Teacher should be interacting and engaging with children throughout the day. This is done through interactive play, sitting on the floor with children (or at tables), and / or reading with children.
- Assistant Teacher should be engaging with play during outside play times.
- Send home daily communication sheets for individual children.
- Report any suspected abuse to supervisor.
- Clean and arrange classroom environment in accordance to program goals and philosophy, including learning centers.
- Keep a clean and organized classroom by following daily cleaning requirements.
- Toileting and changing of diapers as needed.
- Maintain and turn in daily time sheet for 2 week periods.
- Demonstrate organizational abilities
- Daily assignments may include coverage for other staff during breaks and planning time, clean toys and educational materials, clean common areas such as bathrooms, break room and outdoor play areas, remove garbage, inventory supplies, organize art and supplies cabinets.
