Automation technicians work in industrial and commercial settings to maintain and repair automated systems and robotic devices.
Their responsibilities include :
- Installation and maintenance : Install, maintain, and repair automated systems and robotic devices
- Troubleshooting : Troubleshoot problems with systems and determine if the issue is mechanical, electrical, or from the computer systems
- Monitoring : Monitor automated systems
- Testing : Test and troubleshoot systems to ensure smooth process flows
- Design : Design, program, and develop automation technologies
- Safety : Identify and address any safety hazards or potential issues with automation systems
- Support : Support automation engineering services activities such as hardware and software design and development
