Accountant Senior (Pay rate: $ 27.00/hr on W2)

Title : Accountant

Location : onsite in Scottsdale, AZ 85251

Duration : 6 months with possible extension up to 2 years

Schedule Hours : Mon-Fri; 8-5 PM

Pay rate : $ 27.00 / hr on W2

Description :

• Provides financial analysis of special projects and proposals to management. Researches and advises on implications of new Governmental Accounting Standards Board pronouncements and leads implementation.
• Coordinates and prepares various periodic reports such as the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report for management.
• Coordinates the financial management and administration of assigned contractual agreements.
• Participates in the implementation, design and enhancement of new accounting systems to improve fiscal management capabilities.
• Coordinates the maintenance of a wide variety of complex accounting records and subsidiary records and systems.
• Acts as a consultant to departments, assists in various financial analyses, and provides training and guidance regarding finance and accounting issues.
• Researches and responds to financial questions from citizens, senior management, and staff from other cities upon request.

Skills Required

• Knowledge of the principles, standards and practices of governmental accounting, auditing, budgeting, and financial reporting for public sector activities.
• Principles and practices of municipal accounting and financial administration; pertinent Federal, State and Local laws, rules and regulations.
• Computerized financial systems and complex financial models.
• Listen, communicate, and deal effectively with management, peers, representatives of other government agencies and the general public and research as necessary to provide requested information.
• Communicate both verbally and in writing with all levels of the organization using clearly organized thoughts, proper sentence construction, punctuation, and grammar.
• Provide superior customer service for both internal and external customers.
• Effectively communicate instructions and information both verbally and in writing to subordinates, other City staff and the public.
• Be committed to teamwork and to quality in everyday work.
• Be willing to assume ownership in completion of assigned tasks.
• Perform complex and confidential assignments.
• Interpret Federal, State and City ordinances, rules, and regulations.
• Make complex mathematical calculations and draw logical conclusions.
• Provide thoughtful and thorough analysis.
• Handle multiple projects simultaneously and use good judgment in prioritizing work assignments. Make presentations and facilitate meetings.

Experience Required Five years of accounting experience Experience Preferred Education Required A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or closely related field from an accredited educational institution.
