We're looking to hire a Expanded Community Services (ECS) Clinical Supervisor!

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR : Community Based Services Program Director

  • The Clinical Supervisor establishes, administers, and directs the program of Expanded Community Services (ECS), a self-contained clinical team which assumes responsibility for directly providing needed behavior support services to identified clients with severe and persistent mental illnesses;
  • supervises and evaluates the multidisciplinary team in conjunction with appropriate psychiatric support to ensure service excellence and courteous, helpful, and respectful services to program clients;

and functions as a practicing clinician on the team.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Direct the day-to-day clinical operations of the ECS team including scheduling staff work hours to assure appropriate coverage for day, evening, weekend, and holiday shifts and on-call hours;

assist in leading lead the weekly organizational staff meetings and treatment planning meetings; continuously evaluate the status of clients and do appropriate planning and coordination of treatment activities to ensure immediate attention to their changing needs.

Direct and coordinate client intakes to ensure timely completion of intake documentation, initial visit, initial behavior support plan, and initial crisis plan.

Attended weekly ECS meetings to coordinate new referrals and reauthorizations.

Participate in staff recruitment, interviewing, hiring, work assignments, and orientation and performance supervision according to work rules, regulations, and policies and collective bargaining agreements;

develop and implement staff orientation and training; and manage student training.

  • Set up and maintain appropriate ECS headquarters with suitable furniture, office equipment, and telephone lines, directly or by delegation.
  • Supervise medical records management assuring maintenance of the medical record in compliance with agency policies, Medicaid, and other third-party payment requirements;
  • train staff on medical record requirements; regularly review client assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes written by the staff;

and supervise individual staff for medical records mastery.

  • Carry out and document quality-assurance activities and reviews of use of program services.
  • Develop and maintain program policies and procedures and revise as necessary.
  • Initiate and maintain relationships, in coordination with other staff, with adult family home providers and caregivers.

Respond to calls from providers requesting same day behavior support with a face to face visit either directly or by delegation.

  • Provide direct behavior support services, including developing individual behavior support plans, behavior assessments, and crisis prevention plans.
  • Participate in the rotation of the after hours phone to provide evening and weekend support to adult family home providers experiencing challenges in responding to patients
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience, and Knowledge Required

  • The Clinical Supervisor has at least a master’s degree in nursing, social work, psychiatric rehabilitation, or psychology, or is a psychiatrist;
  • Meet the requirements of a mental health professional as defined in WAC 388-865-0150;
  • Has strong clinical skills and experience providing treatment to persons with severe and persistent mental illnesses;
  • Supervisory and program management experience is desirable;
  • Familiarity with Washington State regulations related to the provision of mental health services (RCW 71.05) and substance use dependency services (WAC 388-877) required;
  • Current unencumbered driver license and proof of current car insurance
  • Good verbal and written communication skills;
  • Great attendance; and
  • Ability to work well with others.

GUIDELINES

This position requires that the incumbent obtain and maintain Washington State credentials through the Department of Health.

This position also requires the incumbent to have a valid driver’s license with a good driving record and a private vehicle in order to fulfill the duties of the position.

COMPLEXITY

The incumbent provides community based behavior support services to individuals who differ widely in age and socioeconomic status and who may possess a variety of chronic and serious social, behavioral and psychological problems.

Strong clinical skills, sound judgment, and creativity are required to help implement and deliver treatment services that meet the complex needs of the individuals.

PERSONAL CONTACTS

Contacts are with the members of the treatment team, significant others of the individuals, representatives of various community agencies specializing in the treatment of chemical abuse and mental illness, and related community representatives including hospital personnel, lawyers, probation officers, and other court officials.

All personal contacts are carried out in accordance with federal and state laws dealing with the confidentiality of patient records.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Most of the work can be performed while sitting and talking. The position requires the ability to travel within the community by private vehicle to meet the individual in their own environment.

The position requires the ability to assist individuals with learning new coping skills and succeeding in their residential placement.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Working hours are spent indoors in adult family homes or in the community meeting with individuals in their homes or health clinics.

Supervision of outdoor activities, visits to community agencies, and participation in staff retreats and staff development activities will be required.

Salary : $29.69 - $30.85 / hr DOE
