Manager of Supply Chain
We, at Leggett & Platt Inc., are searching for a Manager of Supply Chain within our Work Furniture team to help support our Furniture, Flooring, & Textiles products business.
Leggett & Platt is North America’s leading independent manufacturer of office furniture components and mechanism. Our Work Furniture business produces task and finished components, as well as select lines of private label finished seating.
From surface-critical bent tube assemblies and molded plywood components to chair mechanisms, bases, arms, seats, and backs, Work Furniture brings diverse world-class manufacturing capabilities together in the production and assembly of high-quality contract furniture products.
As a Manager of Supply Chain, your contributions will have a direct impact on the business by driving a continuous improvement culture throughout the procurement function.
This role will sit in Grand Rapids Michigan yet be responsible for all W. MI branches SC strategy, standardization, KPI driving for all branches.
This role could possibly expand to all North America and Canada and possibly global in the future. The team you will be working with is collaborative and strategic.
So, what will you be doing as a Manager of Supply Chain?
- Set procurement strategy for Genesis division
- Coordinate like-item purchases with all branch level purchasing agents
- Negotiate pricing, quality, lead times, etc. with key vendors
- Research, vet and qualify new vendors as required by the BU
- Lead negotiations with vendors and coordinate with L&P Legal to establish strategic supply agreements with key ven-dors
- Coordinate with L&P corporate purchasing & cross-BU purchasing as needed
- Lead new proactive product sourcing as required by Innovation & Commercialization teams
- Assist BU President, VP of Operations, or VP of Innovation & Commercialization with strategic projects as necessary
- Solve problems creatively to drive positive change
- Attract, develop, and retain a strategic, diverse and aggressive procurement team
- Drive continuous improvement mindset throughout the global procurement function
To be successful in this role, you’ll need :
- 5 years of progressively responsible procurement and vendor management experience, preferably in a multi-site and / or large-scale global manufacturing environment
- Experience building a team
- Proven track record or creating and implementing effective commodity management strategies to drive cost out of the business
- Experience effectively vetting vendors and communicating vendor selections
Things we consider a plus :
- Business, Supply Chain or Logistics Management or Engineering Bachelor’s Degree
- Engineering background very beneficial
- Steel manufacturing background very beneficial
