Advanced Personnel Resources is seeking an Associate Buyer for a new opportunity with our client in the High Point area. This position requires knowledge of commercial supply sources and common business practices related to sales, prices, discounts, units of measurement, deliveries, stocks, and shipments.

Selected candidates will have prior purchasing experience, and a background in the manufacturing or construction industries.

JOB DUTIES :

  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to understand and define procurement needs for specific projects.
  • Conduct market research to identify potential suppliers and evaluate their capabilities, quality, and reliability.
  • Perform cost and price analysis to ensure competitive pricing and best value for the company.
  • Prepare and issue RFQs to suppliers for required materials, equipment, and services.
  • Evaluate supplier quotations and bids, considering factors such as price, quality, delivery time, and supplier reputation.
  • Select suppliers based on bid evaluations and negotiate terms and conditions to secure favorable agreements.
  • Prepare and issue purchase orders to selected suppliers, ensuring all details and specifications are clearly defined.
  • Monitor the status of purchase orders, ensuring timely delivery and addressing any delays or issues that arise.
  • Maintain accurate records of purchase orders, supplier agreements, and related documentation.
  • Maintain effective communication with suppliers to ensure clear understanding of requirements, timely responses, and resolution of any issues.
  • Monitor supplier performance, including on-time delivery, product quality, and adherence to contract terms. Provide feedback and address any performance issues.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to foster collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Work with inventory control teams to ensure adequate stock levels of materials and equipment, preventing shortages and overstock situations.
  • Coordinate logistics and delivery schedules with suppliers and internal teams to ensure timely receipt of materials and equipment.
  • Monitor and manage procurement activities to ensure adherence to project budgets and cost controls.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving measures and strategies in procurement to enhance project profitability.

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3 - 5 years of purchasing experience within manufacturing or construction.
  • Knowledge of procurement procedures, manufacturing principles, and distribution requirements planning.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and strong professional interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of leadership, technical and non-technical personnel, teammates and vendors.
