Overview
The Associate Materials Planner will plan and manage the flow of raw materials throughout the entire supply chain.
Responsibilities
- Own material flow from procurement through on-time delivery to manufacturing.
- Work with master planning and production planning to plan, procure and provide promise dates for materials.
- Expedite critical material availability from stock and suppliers, based on manufacturing needs.
- Work closely with Manufacturing and Logistics to develop and maintain appropriate safety stock levels.
- Manage material attribute data in the MRP system.
- Actively and systematically look to improve business processes related to material planning, procurement and inventory management.
- Evaluate the effect of system and process changes as they occur within the supply chain.
- Develop and maintain metrics for material availability performance.
- Actively participate in continuous improvement opportunities.
- Normally receives minimal instructions on routine work and detailed instructions on new assignments.
- Ability to work in a team environment and independently as required
- May be required to work Holidays and weekends
- Contributes to the overall operations and to the achievement of departmental goals
- Perform job specific tasks in compliance with applicable Regulations, International Standards, and WuXi AppTec Policies and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Thorough understanding of Good Laboratory Practices and Good Manufacturing Practices
- Other duties as assigned
- May be required to assist in other departments
Qualifications
Experience / Education
- 3 to 5 years of relevant experience or equivalent
- Bachelors’ degree in Materials Management, Engineering or related field or equivalent experience
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities :
- Proven experience with ERP / MRP system in a manufacturing environment
- GMP / GLP experience preferred
- Great Plains software experience preferred
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing preferred
- Must work effectively in a participative team environment and deliver on commitments
- Strong negotiating, analytical, computer, and organizational skills a must!
- Must have time management skills, multi-tasking ability, & demonstrated problem solving skills
- Excellent presentation skills, both written and oral a must
- Proficient in Oral & Written communication skills
- Need to be able to read, write and understand English
- Proficient in Microsoft (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Physical Requirements :
- Must be able to work in an office environment with minimal noise conditions.
- Must be able to work in environment with variable noise levels
- Ability to stand / Sit / walk for long periods of time
- Ability to perform heavy physical work, lifting up to 65 pounds.
