EXAMPLES OF DUTIES :
The Technology Assistant will assist the Library Media Specialist / Information Technology Coordinator in :
- Helping students and staff select, locate and use media and electronic resources
- Gathering resources as requested by staff
- Advocating for the use of online databases and other resources provided by the district
- Being knowledgeable about the school curriculum to better assist students and staff
- Having an interest in technology and advocating for its use by students and staff
- Assisting students and teachers with electronic devices and peripherals including iPads, iMacs, Apple TV’s, SMART Boards, Printers, Chromebooks, Desktop PC’s, etc.
- Troubleshooting problems with and answer questions about these electronic devices and peripherals
- Following school / district procedures when handling broken and damaged iPads
- Being familiar with and have the ability to answer questions about : Gmail, Google Docs, iPad apps, and other software programs
- Learning as new technology evolves
- Helping with troubleshooting network and wireless problems
- Assisting in the library as needed
- Managing various devices and help with the supervision of students in the drop-in lab
- Communicating effectively with staff and students
Clerical duties performed by the Technology Assistant will include :
- Maintaining an organizational system for circulation of technological materials and equipment
- Submitting IT Helpdesk tickets for devices in need of repair
- Providing troubleshooting support for computer, device and equipment
- Other clerical duties and projects, as assigned by supervisor

EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE :
High School education or equivalent

- Have knowledge of and an aptitude for Apple software and operating systems and Google Apps and extensions.
- Know and follow District and School policies and procedures.
- Know and follow safety procedures within District and School.
LANGUAGE SKILLS :
- Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
- Ability to read and interpret documents, federal, state, and / or DPI regulations and handbooks.
- Communicating with students in a way that fosters the development of a positive self-image.
- Exercising good judgment in dealings with students, parents, other staff and the public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS :
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
