Position Overview :
The Accounting Coordinator will report directly to the Director of Finance and is responsible for coordinating with management and other departments as needed, performing various monthly accounting operations including, account reconciliation, bank reconciliation, monthly allocation, and associated journal entries.
The ideal candidate should be able to prepare timely and accurate financial reports, have a detail-oriented approach in identifying and resolving any accounting errors, have demonstrated experience in spreadsheets and databases, with proficiency in using an integrated business system.
Provide additional administrative support to the Sales, Human Resources and Executive Departments as needed.
Key Responsibilities :
- Strong Accounts Receivable experience.
- Acting as an intermediary between clients and the internal accounting department.
- Daily balancing of credit card batches settlement to post and received batches.
- Daily cash handling, banks audits, maintain cash paid out, and change funds for cashiers.
- Perform data entry and maintain accurate records of financial transactions.
- Assist with account reconciliation and resolve any discrepancies or issues.
- Collaborate with the accounting team to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Utilize accounting software to perform daily tasks.
- Ensuring all financial reports and data are accurate.
- Adhering to the State and Federal regulations when performing accounting duties.
- Cross-checking invoices for accuracy.
- Assists in account reconciliations and in various period-end close procedures
- The ability to exercise personal discipline and extra diligence to assure that projects are completed on a timely basis.
- Work with minimal supervision.
- Perform additional duties, as assigned.
Required Qualifications :
- Knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
- Strong organizational, prioritization skills and ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Strong knowledge of Opera, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Possess a keen eye for the smallest detail and maintain a sense of urgency.
- Communicate clearly, concisely, and openly verbally and in writing.
- Fluency in English and fluency in additional languages a plus.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of guest information and pertinent Hotel data.
Qualification Standards :
- College degree preferred.
- 1 to 3 years of office experience in accounting or finance.
- A degree or current coursework in Business, Accounting or Finance is preferred.
- Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail are critical to this position.
Physical Requirements :
- Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill necessary tasks.
- Sitting for up to 8 hours in length.
Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules (including Holidays and weekends) to reflect the business needs of the hotel.
