Arcadis is seeking a Resident Project Representative (RPR) / Construction Inspector to join our Resilience Water Business Area in Southeast Michigan.
The RPR / Construction Inspector will collaborate with our local Water Design and Construction Engineering Team (Detroit and Toledo offices) to oversee Municipal Water / Wastewater construction projects in the field.
Role description :
The candidate should be comfortable independently performing construction oversight, inspection, coordinating and witnessing quality assurance / quality control testing, and report documentation (i.
e. daily reports and field orders). The RPR / Construction Inspector will serve as the primary field contact between Arcadis Project Management, Design and Construction Administration teams (office based), Contractors (General, Electrical, Plumbing and / or Mechanical) and Owner (Municipal Entity).
To be successful in this position the candidate must have experience with General Facilities Construction, Municipal Water and / or Wastewater Treatment and / or Pump Station construction, operations and / or maintenance of water / wastewater operations and / or stakeholder communication.
The RPR / Construction Inspector must also be comfortable working with and referring to Construction Contract Documents (i.
e. Plans and Specifications).
Role Accountabilities :
- Observe and inspect ongoing construction work performed by others in field.
- Review plans and specifications for assigned projects, attend pre-construction conferences, progress meetings, and safety meetings.
- Inspect and assure quality of work, testing procedures, inspection protocols and construction activities following specified requirements.
- Monitor and track contractor progress and adherence to contract schedule.
- Review and respond to contractor Requests For Information (RFIs)
- Act as liaison to office engineering staff for obtaining field information related to the answering of correspondence, RFI's and review of shop drawings.
- Use oral and written communication skills to effectively participate in progress, project, safety, scheduling and other contract administration meetings with client, contractors, local agencies and the community.
- Verify that all work is installed per contract requirements.
- Assist Engineering Project Manager with contract administration activities when requested.
- Prepare inspectors' daily reports and other project related reports, as-built etc. Daily reports are required to be submitted on a daily basis.
- Review preliminary and final Contractors' monthly partial payment requests.
- Coordinate with Contractors superintendent prior to starting any new portion of the work to verify all required submittals have been approved.
- Assist in preparing field orders.
- Monitor Record Drawings and assemble closeout documentation.
- Maintain organized records in field office trailer.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 7 years experience in General, Municipal Water and / or Sewer Construction
- Previous utility construction inspection experience.
- Experience and basic proficiency with the MS Office Suite (particularly Word and Excel)
- Associates Degree or Higher in Engineering or Construction Management; or 10+ years of construction oversight or construction supervision experience
