Collins Engineers has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Bridge Inspection Team Leader for New Mexico inspection projects.
The engineer will supervise and perform structural inspections on bridges and ancillary structures, serving as the Team Leader.
This person will act as the Project Manager on moderately complex inspection projects with little oversight. Travel of up to 50% will be required with most projects focused on local and statewide inspections.
This is a great opportunity for a Team Leader wanting to advance into Project Management! This candidate preferably will be located in Albuquerque or Santa Fe, but anywhere in New Mexico will be considered.
SUMMARY
The Team Leader is responsible for leading inspection teams and assisting in the successful completion of inspection and design projects.
Position Description
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Supervises above water and underwater bridge and ancillary design, inspection and evaluations.
- Reviews, analyzes and provides recommendations on field and / or design issues or adaptations.
- Assists in proposal preparation.
- Prepares and monitors project budgets.
- Responsible for project schedules and timely completion of projects.
- Responsible for moderately difficult engineering projects in field or office in accordance with plans and specifications.
- Performs moderately difficult engineering computations and estimates in designing engineering projects.
- Prepares complete engineering plans or reports.
- Directs and supervises the work of entry-level engineers, technicians, drafters and administrative staff.
- Coaches field staff on the purpose and processes of inspections and inspection techniques.
- Makes independent decisions within a general framework.
- Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents.
- Is active in technical societies.
- Is available to attend meetings or events outside of normal working hours.
- Actively observes and acts in an appropriate manner related to safety
EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree and / or master’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited four-year university and a minimum of 4 to 5 years of bridge or ancillary structure inspection experience.
- Must have passed the NHI / FHWA Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges course.
- NHI Fracture Critical Course preferred.
- SPRAT certification a plus.
- Experience with NDT and Fracture Critical Inspections Preferred
- Must have experience in Autocad, Microstation and Deltek
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Engineer-In-Training (E.I.T) required
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) preferred or ability to get within a year
- NICET certification preferred
- Valid driver’s license
