Description
The Flight Control Engineering Manager position is responsible for the technical oversight of Flight Controls systems for eAviation.
This team provides support to all engineering functions by maintaining analytical models, conducting analysis, and providing design guidance to ensure technical requirements are satisfied at the component, system, and air vehicle levels.
In addition, the team supports wind tunnel testing, laboratory testing, and aircraft ground and flight test. This is a technical management position, and the applicant is expected to contribute technical work in at least one of these areas.
Position Responsibilities :
- Drive the day-to-day execution of air vehicle level analysis, design support, and test support activities within an integrated program team environment, including technical leads, project managers, and individual contributors.
- Provide technical oversight and guidance to ensure an appropriate level of modeling and analysis is conducted to support rapid and accurate decisions balancing technical, schedule and budgetary risks and requirements.
- Prepare and present technical materials in support of program deliverables and design / requirements reviews.
- Facilitate collaboration and communicate progress and issues with other engineering managers, SMEs, and internal / external customers.
- Perform duties as hiring and personnel manager of a team, responsible for performance reviews, rewards planning, and staffing decisions.
Qualifications
Education Requirements :
- Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering discipline is required.
- Master’s Degree in engineering related specialty is preferred.
Position Requirements :
- Minimum 7 years of relevant aircraft design and / or test support experience is required, with a preferred completion of at least 1 completed cycle of new aircraft development experience (from preliminary design through flight testing).
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Proven self-starter requiring minimal supervision, with excellent written and oral communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications :
- Previous leadership experience (including formal or informal, technical or non-technical).
- Experience with analysis tools for handling qualities, flight control software / hardware.
- Have related technical experience in the following areas :
- Analyzing and reducing wind tunnel and flight test data for incorporation into simulation math model flight test support and data analysis
- 6 degree of freedom simulation analysis and simulation development
- Aircraft stability and control design and analysis
- Familiarity with relevant specifications and standards including ADS-33 (MIL-DTL-32742), MIL-HDBK-1797, AS94900.
