Job Description

Position Description :

The Lead Life Claims Examiner leads claim evaluation, analysis, and adjudication in compliance with State and Federal laws while providing timely and accurate service to clients.

This role represents an experienced individual contributor on the team who assists on high profile, contestable, and complex cases and who will provide guidance to entry level associates or peers.

Position Location : This position is remote and does not require regular in-office presence.

What you do :

• Evaluate and authorize disposition of some complex claims.
• Assists in analyzing and recommending disposition of contestable and complex claims where liability is questionable with varying limits.
• Obtain and analyze medical records and financial documents.
• Consult with and request formal written opinions from Law and Medical / Underwriting departments.
• Correspond with policyholders, attorneys, medical facilities, reinsurers, outside vendors, and insured's employer.
• Make advanced independent decisions using judgement and experience.
• Compose advanced written and oral communication that may be subject to litigation.
• Assist with recoveries from reinsurance carriers.
• Assist with training for new or entry level associates as requested.
• Perform all claims processing support functions.
• Other duties as assigned.

What you bring :

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
• 3-5 years of Life and / or Annuity claims experience required.

About this Position's Pay

The pay range posted reflects a nationwide minimum to maximum covering all potential locations where the position may be filled.

The final determination on pay for any position will be based on multiple factors including role, career level, work location, skill set, and candidate level of experience to ensure pay equity within the organization.

This position will be eligible to participate in our comprehensive benefits package (see above for details). This position will be eligible to participate in our Short-Term Incentive Plan with the annual target defined by the plan.
