POSITION DETAILS

The mission of the Foundation for City College is to provide access to educational and research excellence, particularly to students who might not otherwise attend a senior college.

Private gifts have the power to advance higher education, which transforms lives and communities, and the Foundation strives to enrich the City College experience for students, faculty, and staff.

The Foundation staff work in collaboration with the President of The City College of New York to raise significant financial support from private sources, and to steward the Foundation’s assets while serving as advocates for the College.

The Foundation supports a variety of programs at City College, including named professorships, advanced research operations, innovative programs leading to increased student success and campus-wide wellness opportunities, workforce development initiatives, and special programs and lectures that bring some of the nation’s top intellectuals to the campus.

The vision of the Foundation for City College is to be the steward of The City College of New York through the Foundation’s position as advocates for the College’s endowment and to serve as a leader in accountability, stewardship, and overall commitment to excellence.

The Finance Specialist will report to the Director of Accounting and will work closely with other members of the Foundation Finance team.

In addition to the CUNY Title Overview, the Finance Specialist duties include but are not limited to the following responsibilities :

Perform general accounting functions, including, but not limited to accounts payable, general ledger, and adjusting journal entries

Record expenses using ProcessMaker and Blackbaud Financial Edge Accounting software

Reconcile batch uploads to ensure accuracy in both systems

Prepare, compile and maintain monthly reconciliations supporting the financial statement

Review and perform functions with, Foundation credit card accounts, Merchant Services, Payroll deductions, monthly bank reconciliation, and fee charges for donations

Assist with the operations associated with year-end procedures, annual audits and other financial functions

Maintain accuracy of charges, credits, payments and refunds

Review miscellaneous cash receipts entries for proper coding and agreement to bank deposits

Support the Accounting Director to improve internal controls and streamlining processes

Responsible for creating a culture of data quality by following and establishing quality assurance protocols, processes and documentation

Responsible for the accurate maintenance of vendor information, including W-9s, and assisting with annual 1099 preparation and filings

Assist with the timely reconciliation of all Foundation for City College credit card activities

Ensure proper authorization and documentation for payments, including correct coding of disbursements across various funds

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree and four years' related experience required.

Maintains financial accounts for income and spending; administers the allocation of funds

Analyzes spending, income trends and usage to recommend improvements

Manages the collection of revenue and accounts receivable

Tracks and maintains financial data to provide fiscal reports to management; produces forecasting projections

Monitors the financial condition of operating centers to ensure efficient use of resources

Performs ad hoc reporting and analysis as necessary

May supervise subordinate staff

Performs related duties as assigned.

Salary range : $75,465-$86,645. Salary commensurate with education and experience.
