DALEY COLLEGE

City Colleges of Chicago (CCC) , the largest community college system in Illinois, is made up of seven colleges and five satellite sites, providing more than 70,000 students each year access to a quality, affordable education.

Daley College, Advanced Manufacturing Department has several grants including ICCB Workforce Equity Initiative (WEI), Gene Haas Foundation and American Gear Manufacturers Association Grants that can be multiyear and significant funding amounts.

Several other grants are in the process of application and evaluation in addition to these awards.

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE

Reporting to the Dean of Advanced Manufacturing, and in collaboration with the college’s Principal Investigators, the Director Manufacturing Grants directs and oversees the implementation of grants’ programmatic and outreach activities to ensure appropriate and full use of grant resources.

Serves as the point of contact for staff and faculty on grant matters and manages grant reporting to ensure the timely submission of required reports to various funding sources.

The Director Manufacturing Grants works with key internal and external stakeholders to support the grants objectives of enrollment growth in Advanced Manufacturing credit and non-credit programs and successful employment attainments by students in the program.

Key objectives include :

  • Develop integrated and collaborative opportunities for students at both Daley campuses.
  • Increase the number of underrepresented and low-income students attaining degrees.
  • Develop and implement programming, curriculum, and work-based learning opportunities that prepare students for workforce and additional training and education opportunities.
  • Enhance existing and develop new student-focused service programs and infrastructure.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Administers and implements day-to-day grant project activities and maintains all required documentation related to grant activities, budgets, procurement, and reporting.
  • Works with key stakeholders to effectively execute grant initiatives, monitor work progress and performance, and ensure grant objectives are met.
  • Serves as the point of contact for students, faculty, and staff program participants, providing direct consultation related to program activities and issues.
  • Communicates and works with Principal Investigator (PI), project staff and partners (faculty, and community partner personnel) on planning, development, coordination, design, and implementation of grant activities, as outlined in the grant.
  • Serves as the financial manager of the program, overseeing the development and administration of the budget in conjunction with the PI.
  • Accountable for management oversight and budgetary control of the grant’s budget.
  • Communicates regularly with PI to plan and report on grant activity and data; ensures compliance with all grant reporting requirements.
  • Supports the department in recruiting student participants, and coordination of grant activities related to the grant programs.
  • Works with external evaluator of the grant to provide support, maintain lines of communication, implement program assessment, and provide necessary access / information on grant activities.
  • Maintains documentation on the progress of student participants, including academic, financial, and post-graduate / transfer pathways.
  • Collaborates with college administrator on project activities related to student enrollment, student wellness, student success to achieve goals and objectives.
  • Participates in college-wide initiatives, committees and task forces directly connected to recruitment, retention, and student success.
  • Coordinates outreach efforts with industry / community partners in Chicago to facilitate career readiness.
  • Coordinates outreach efforts to promote access, enrollment, retention and matriculation in manufacturing and related fields.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Five years of relevant and professional work experience.
  • Program experience in CTE educational areas desirable, preferably in manufacturing or engineering.
  • Experience managing projects across multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience in managing budgets and tracking spenddown of grant funds.
  • Experience in grant, project or program management, preferably in higher education.
  • Experience working with and supporting marginalized communities, first-generation, and low-income students.
  • Demonstrated understanding and commitment to social justice and equity issues.
  • Experience in STEM-related educational program planning, development, coordination, and administration.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to cultivate and maintain partnerships with key stakeholders.
  • Ability to work within a culturally diverse environment.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Chicago residency is required for all full-time employees within 6 months of hire.
