Reporting to the Director, Compensation & Talent Acquisition, APU is looking for a dynamic and creative Talent Acquisition Specialist, to join our Human Resources team.

This Talent Acquisition Specialist will be responsible for overseeing the full recruitment cycle for all open positions at all levels within the university, with a special emphasis on staff recruitment.

Responsibilities include serving as a talent partner with various levels of leadership to proactively identify hiring requirements.

Identifies talent, conducts initial interviews, and manages candidates through the interview process. Works with hiring managers to develop and recommend recruiting strategies to ensure positions are filled in a given time frame.

Consults with hiring managers on staffing and recruitment policies and ensures compliance with Federal, State, and APU guidelines.

Updates applicant tracking system and other systems prepares and places job postings across appropriate media. Coordinates and performs reference and background checks.

Seeks to ensure a positive candidate and new hire experience. Facilitates New Employee Orientation. Required Education

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.

Required Experience

  • Two or more years of HR recruitment or relevant experience.
  • Experience with Applicant Tracking System(s).
  • Demonstrated experience in the areas of customer service, problem solving, and meeting critical deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working in higher education, student employment and / or human resources.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively handle a broader range of interpersonal contacts, including those at a higher level and those of sensitive nature is required along with the ability to work cooperatively with a diverse group of people.

Primary Duties / Essential Functions

  • Establishes recruiting requirements by meeting with or scheduling phone calls with managers to discuss recruitment needs, job requirements, and applicant qualifications.
  • Attracts applicants by placing job advertisements on job boards, specialty sites, utilizes social media platforms, career fairs, and develops other creative methods to fill vacant positions.
  • Determines applicant requirements by studying job description and job qualifications and makes appropriate recommendations.
  • Determines applicant qualifications by interviewing applicants, analyzing responses, comparing qualifications to job criteria.
  • Reviews resumes and contacts candidates to further vet mission fit alignment, when needed.
  • Strategically and proactively sources passive and active candidates to build and maintain a quality talent pipeline for current and future employment needs.
  • Highlights organization attractiveness by emphasizing APU benefits and other perks.
  • Avoids legal challenges by understanding current employment enforcing them as needed with hiring managers.
  • Updates job knowledge by reading professional publications and e-newsletters; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
  • Responsible for updating applicant tracking system and generating reports, and troubleshooting questions from employees related to timekeeping, payroll and general onboarding questions.
  • Ensures a positive candidate experience by effectively making offers, communicating onboarding tasks and issues offer letters.
  • Collaborate with various department stakeholders : Human Resources, Payroll, Financial Aid, IT, divisional Budget Managers to ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and policies.
  • Facilitates New Employee Orientation.
  • Provide support and high-quality customer service to students, faculty, staff and administrators.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable federal and state laws and university policies and procedures.
  • Regular, punctual attendance as required by the supervisor based on department needs.
  • Performs other duties as required by the supervisor.

Compensation

Grade 10 : $25.94 to $29.83 is the hourly compensation for this role and reflects what Azusa Pacific University reasonably expects to pay for this position.

Actual compensation may vary based on the qualifications, experience, and internal equity. In addition to compensation, APU offers a competitive.
