Job Summary :
- The Quality Control (QC) In-Process Inspector is responsible for performing inspections and ensuring compliance with FAA regulations and company standards during the overhaul and repair of aviation components.
- This role involves inspecting components at various stages of the repair process to ensure they meet specified requirements and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities :
In-Process Inspections :
- Quality Control Inspector conducts inspections at various stages of the repair and overhaul process to ensure components meet FAA regulations, company standards, and customer specifications.
- Verify dimensions, tolerances, and functionality of components using precision measuring instruments and test equipment.
Documentation and Reporting :
- Accurately document inspection results, including discrepancies, non-conformities, and any corrective actions taken.
- Maintain detailed records of inspections, tests, and findings in compliance with FAA and company requirements.
- Prepare and submit inspection reports to the Quality Control Manager and other relevant departments.
Compliance and Standards :
- Ensure all inspections are conducted in accordance with FAA regulations, AS, AS standards, and company procedures.
- Stay updated on changes to FAA regulations and industry standards, implementing changes in inspection processes as required.
Collaboration :
- Work closely with operations, engineering, and quality assurance teams to address and resolve quality issues.
- Provide feedback and recommendations to improve the overhaul and repair processes based on inspection findings.
Training and Development :
- Participate in ongoing training and development programs to stay current with industry best practices and advancements in inspection technology.
- Assist in training new QC inspectors and other staff members on quality control processes and standards.
Required Education :
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- An associate degree or technical certification in aviation maintenance, quality control, or a related field is preferred.
Required Experience :
- Minimum of years of experience in quality control, inspection, or a related field within the aviation industry.
- Experience with FAA component overhaul and repair processes is highly desirable.
Required Skills :
- Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments (, calipers, micrometers, gauges) and test equipment.
- Strong understanding of FAA regulations, AS, and AS standards.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify defects and non-conformities.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Required Certifications :
- FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license is strongly preferred.
- ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) or equivalent certification is a preferred
Physical Requirements :
- Ability to lift and carry up to pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
- Manual dexterity and ability to use hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
Work Environment :
- Work is performed in a combination of office and repair shop environments.
- Exposure to noise, dust, and chemical fumes is typical of an aviation repair facility.
