Sr. Formulations Chemist Personal Care
The Sr. Formulations Chemist will be part of the company’s Personal Care technical team that supports the business in the Americas region.
In this role, the primary functions come from customers, market trends and novel concepts developed by our R&D. This position requires a detail-oriented individual who can independently manage and organize data on numerous lab activities, be able to multi-task and problem solve, while maintaining a clear sense of priorities and focus.
As a part of the Personal Care technical and business opportunities with the global team. This position reports to the Sr.
Technical Manager for Personal Care, Americas.
Primary Responsibilities :
- Provide technical assistance to customers as required through support such as : Answering inquiries on products and applications Independently develop formulations, meeting trends and market research Performing application tests Formula scale-up recommendations
- Develop commercially viable formulations that successfully meet customer and market demands for performance, economics, and regulatory compliance
- Research new developments and raw materials for product development to meet new market demands
- Work with customers, sales, and production teams to define and develop new products
- Visit customers to promote our products, develop opportunities for collaboration and to help solve application technical issues involving our products
- Assist manufacturing plant or QC on occasion to assess issues and trouble shoot
- Train sales team members as well as distributors that promote our products
- Develop relationships with key vendors to maintain an awareness of market trends for both raw materials and finished goods
Daily Responsibilities :
- Take care of the day-to-day customer tech service support through lab work performing standard laboratory analytical application tests with little supervision
- Work closely with customers and sales team on customer tech service requests
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Collect analytical and performance data on existing product portfolio
- Develop formulations for the promotion of our products
- Products R&D samples on Lab and Pilot scale
- Keep accurate records of the day-to-day lab activities, issue detailed technical reports in a reasonable time frame
- Phone or visit customers to help them solve application technical issues involving our products
Technical Qualifications :
- Minimum of a BS in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Biochemistry. Degrees in other scientific disciplines will be considered with an advanced degree in a relevant field a plus
- 7+ years of experience in formulation and applications in detergents industry or with surfactants manufacturers
- Domestic travel will be required, with up to 25% of time on travel
