Process Engineer
KBR Wilmington Operation Center is at the forefront of green process technologies helping the world become a better place.
We are looking for a candidate who has project execution experience and a work group lead (WGL). This role includes early process development through detailed design.
Experience in biochemicals, biofuels, carbon capture and other sustainable technologies projects is a plus. We are looking for motivated candidates that can help grow the office and be future leaders at WOC.
Under general supervision, independently applies advanced engineering techniques, makes decisions on engineering problems and methods, and interfaces with the client to define project scope.
Provides technical guidance to designers and less experienced engineers and is consulted extensively by associates and others with a high degree of reliance placed on scientific interpretations and advice.
Job role is responsible for a measurable asset such as an assigned staff and budget. Skills are typically acquired through an undergraduate degree in Engineering and a minimum of 7 years related experience, with average experience ranging from 10+ years
Responsibilities
- Functions as a project lead for a small projects or an area lead for larger projects.
- Scope definition from receipt of basic data to Issue For Design process deliverables. Interface with the client to define all operating requirements.
- Overall responsibility for Process Engineering deliverables, including P&IDs, process equipment datasheets, hydraulic calculations, and overpressure protection calculations.
- May self-perform or lead other engineers to complete project scope and provide technical guidance to less experienced engineers.
On some occasions, will also plan, schedule, and conduct work requiring independent judgment and adaptation of engineering techniques.
- Define the process design basis for other disciplines, specifically mechanical, piping, and instrumentation and interface with these groups throughout detailed design.
- Manage scope change technically and commercially.
Requirements / Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering required.
- Experience in the chemical, refining, or biofuels industry required.
- Experience with P&ID Development, equipment sizing, hydraulic calculations, and relief valve sizing. Experience with Aspen simulation tools preferred.
- Demonstrated leadership of process design on capital projects, including responsibility for budget, schedule, and change management.
- Professional Engineering (P.E.) license preferred, not required
