Community Youth Services is seeking a dedicated and experienced Grant Writer to join our team. As a Grant Writer, you will play a crucial role in securing funding for our organization by researching, preparing, and submitting grant proposals to various entities, including local, state, and federal agencies, private foundations, and corporate organizations.
This is a full-time, exempt position with a starting salary of $4, per month.

Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s degree in English or a related field.
- Minimum of three to five years of experience writing federal and state grants in areas related to human / social services, education, and mental health.
- Demonstrated success in grant research, preparation, and submission across diverse funding sources (local, state, federal, private, and corporate).
- Thorough understanding of the grant process.
Responsibilities :
- Explore new funding opportunities from federal, state, local, corporate, and private foundations.
- Strategically match prospective funding sources with existing and emerging program needs in collaboration with the Development Director and program staff.
- Work closely with the Community Engagement Director to conceive and organize funding requests.
- Gather input from program staff regarding program descriptions and needs.
- Draft funding requests and submit them for feedback, incorporating necessary edits and changes.
- Collect support data, appendices, Memorandums of Understanding, and budget materials for inclusion in proposal packages.
- Compose appropriate cover letters for grant submissions.
- Complete the submission process, whether through collating, photocopying, packaging, mailing, or electronic submission.
- Track grant updates and progress, generating progress letters as needed.

Agency Qualifications :
- Successfully clear a thorough background check with no history of causing harm, particularly to children or vulnerable adults.
- Maintain a clean criminal record, demonstrating professional and personal integrity.
- Hold a valid Washington State Driver's License with at least five years of driving experience and a good driving record for the past three years.
- Provide proof of auto insurance with coverage of $100,000 or more.
- Show cultural sensitivity and the ability to respond to the diverse needs of the organization’s community.
- Acquire CPR / 1st Aid / Bloodborne Pathogen certification within 30 days of employment (required before starting some positions).
- Possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
