Purpose

Analyze, design, develop, implement, document, maintain, and / or enhance administrative systems for the Graduate School.

Mentor and assist with training team members. Some oversight of other IT team members will be required. Provide support and leadership in analyzing current Graduate School systems.

Responsibilities

Supervise team of software developers involved in the design, development, maintenance, and support of Graduate School IT systems;

and manage client relationships, communication, and coordination with various internal and external stakeholders across the University.

Support one or more functional business areas by maintaining software and documentation and by designing and implementing operational and system improvements.

Oversee complex automation projects, including establishing deadlines and deliverables, assigning tasks, tracking progress, and ensuring quality.

Test all aspects of software, including quality, features, security, usability, and accessibility.

Study new technologies to recommend and implement system upgrades, including third party software packages.

Maintain industry-leading technical skills within the context and support structures of the Graduate School IT team.

Other related functions as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Minimum 8 years of experience with UT systems (Natural / Adabas, CMP, Python / Django, Oracle). Demonstrated ability to analyze, test, and debug complex code.

Experience eliciting and documenting functional and technical software requirements, developing scope statements and time estimates.

Experience consulting with other IT professionals to develop innovative solutions to technical and process-related issues.

Excellent communication skills fostering positive client / stakeholder relationships and collaborative solutions to software needs.

Strong interpersonal skills. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to work effectively, both independently and collaboratively, in a team-oriented environment.

Knowledge of current developments in business and systems analysis, systems design and programming, and database concepts.

Self-managed and highly motivated with a strong drive for delivering high quality results.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field. Experience working with a variety of groups and organizational levels.

Experience with UT Austin administrative systems. Familiarity with UT student and admissions systems and data.

Salary Range

$108,000 + depending on qualifications

Working Conditions

May work around standard office conditions.

Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation.

Work performed on concurrent projects, often involving mission-critical deadlines.

May require occasional extended work hours or on-call obligation.

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
