The Social Media Specialist is responsible for planning, developing, and executing content and social media strategies to increase brand awareness and engagement, drive traffic to our website, and generate sales revenue.

This role is directly responsible for the brand’s social media channels, generating and posting content, and community management.

It will also collaborate and support Horizon Hobby’s online communities.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute content strategies to be utilized across channels, including social media, website, blog, email, and other digital channels.
  • Develop paid advertising campaigns for social channels that meet ROI goals and continue to evolve those campaigns.
  • Create and curate engaging and relevant content, including blog posts, social media posts, infographics, videos, enthusiast interviews, and other assets.
  • Manage brand social media channels, including planning and scheduling content, monitoring engagement and reporting to our goals.
  • Monitor and track industry trends and competitor activities to inform content and social media strategies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Horizon Marketing, Sales, Product, and Creative, to ensure content is aligned with business objectives and brand guidelines.
  • Optimize content for SEO and lead generation, including keyword research, copy optimization, and lead magnets.
  • Analyze and report on content and social media performance, using data to inform strategy and make data-driven decisions.
  • Engage customers via online communities to provide support as needed for Horizon Hobby online communities.
  • Monitor trends in social media tools, channels, design, applications, and strategy.
  • Provide insights to the Brand Marketing teams from social engagement.
  • Support events as a brand ambassador engaging consumers and generating excitement as needed.

Education and / or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or a related field preferred.
  • Solid photography, videography, and editing skills, with the ability to create compelling and engaging content across a variety of formats.
  • Proficient in social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to use data to inform strategy and measure performance.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Ability to build a business case to show ROI for Marketing activities related to social media.
  • Comfortable being in front of the camera and engaging with customers at events.
  • A background in RC and excitement about the industry is a plus, but not required.
  • Travel is required to various events throughout the year. Less than 20%.
  • The ideal candidate is located near Ontario, CA or Champaign, IL.
