The Center for Specialized Services is a nationally recognized nonprofit organization that helps people with disabilities lead full and productive lives.
Founded in 1986, the Center has been providing rehabilitative and support services in our community for over 30 years. The Center offers 17 programs individualized to meet the needs of participants.
These programs include medical therapies, counseling, vocational and employment services, two adult day programs, and three social enterprises.
The Center has helped thousands of people in the St. Louis metropolitan area.
JOB TITLE : Employment Recruiter
JOB CLASSIFICATION : Full time, 40 hours / week
REPORTS T O : Director of Career Development
JOB P URPOSE : The primary responsibility is in the community, engaging area businesses and utilizing a variety of sales / marketing techniques to influence those businesses to utilize a pool of selected job candidates for their workforce needs.
Driven by annual quotas, the goal is a working agreement for repeat job orders by ongoing, engaging interactions to successfully satisfy the needs of the businesses.
Must interpret and utilize vocational information to ensure the candidate is a good match for the businesses. Act as a career guidance counselor for the candidates when needed.
Facilitate training on hiring people with disabilities in area businesses. Coordinate and manage meetings with job seekers and other key people to monitor outcomes and progress to reach job goals.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Facilitate five (5) Quality Placements per quarter (Jul -Sept; Oct - Dec; Jan- Mar; Apr-Jun).
- Market, develop, and track community relationships to promote employment and inclusion of
individuals served.
- Develop a minimum of 1 new community site to be used during the assessment process and / or in the creation of 1 new Training site for our Volunteer / Training program per year.
- Facilitate employer informational interviews and tours.
- Provide education to employers regarding employment, compensation, and accommodations consumers may require for them to be successfully employed.
- Negotiate work-related issues such as schedules, job modifications, benefits, etc., with employers and other people who have significant roles in the consumers' lives.
- Perform intakes with consumers at service initiation.
- Assist with Job Club / Job Readiness Training, which is designed to prepare individuals for an active job search.
- Provide consumers transportation to and from job interviews, job fairs, and candidate networking events as necessary.
- Provide consumer transportation to complete background checks, drug screen testing, and physical evaluations when required.
- Provide consumers with assistance completing online applications, and in person at potential employment sites if required.
- Provide on-the-job support and assist with job trials as necessary.
- Utilize behavior management techniques to train consumers in appropriate work behaviors and social skills when needed.
- Assist in the development of Individual Support Plans for consumers and ensure implementation is in conjunction with appropriate staff and / or employment personnel.
- Monitor progress of worker monthly once job supports have faded to ensure job retention as needed.
- Refer consumers and family members to appropriate community resources when applicable.
- Maintain on-going verbal and written communication with VR Counselors, family members, and other Service Agency Representatives.
- Attend consumer staff trainings, and weekly Job Development meetings as scheduled.
- When available, will use Vocational Evaluation or the Discovery / Exploration Report as a guide
for developmental activity.
- Communicate with Vocational Department or the Discovery / Exploration staff for additional information and understanding of each client's individual support needs.
- Complete all required paperwork and documentation according to agency, funder, and CARF guidelines.
- Assure compliance and maintain standards as outlined by CARF and appropriate federal, state, and local regulations.
- Follow all personnel policies & procedures.
- Maintain a clean and orderly environment.
- Familiarize self with and follow facility and department policies and procedures.
- Actively participate in at least 2 of the Center's major fundraising events per year.
- Actively track and participate in collaborative employment services groups and networking events to cultivate business development.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS :
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE : High school diploma or equivalent required, some college or undergraduate degree preferred. Background in marketing with advanced experience in sales or job development.
Experience supporting individuals with disabilities ideal. Employment Service training certification required as well as CPR and first aid training.
These trainings will be provided upon hire along with required agency trainings).
MISCELLANEOUS : Must have a reliable vehicle and auto insurance. Effective oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills required.
