The Cost Accountant will perform advanced cost accounting analyses to compare estimated costs to actual costs and prepare a variety of related budget reports.
Essential Functions

- Gathers and maintains database along with analyzing company's operational cost.
- Establishes standard costs of production.
- Determine and segment fixed and variable costs
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual cost forecasts
- Develop and analyze cost standards to identify inaccuracies and explain variances.
- Carrying out cost-volume-profit (CVP) analysis.
- Establishing costs of business processes such as administration, labor, shipping, etc.
- Performs account reconciliations.
- Preparing audit reports and presenting their findings to management.
- Recommending changes to the company’s processes and policies to reduce costs and maximize profit.
- Advising executives and upper management on appropriate costing based on financial data.
- Managing the company’s balance sheet and accounting books.
- Supporting other company accountants with invoicing and capital expenditure.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Competencies
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
- Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
- Ability to correctly prepare tax reports.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, and accounting software.

Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office and, in some cases, from a remote offsite location. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

The position operates primarily sedentary, and requires the ability to communicate verbally, as well as use hands to fingers to handle or feel;
and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
This employee requires full range of motion of arms and requires movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity and coordination.
This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours can change at the discretion of the Corporate Controller; though typical hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8 a.
m. to 5 p.m. Some weekend hours will be necessary to accommodate any issues that might arise.
Travel
Minimal travel is expected for this position.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting is required for this position.
- 2+ years of related experience as a Cost Accountant, working in job costing analysis.
- 2+ years experience with month-end procedures and cut-offs.
- In-depth understanding of GAAP.
- Working knowledge and experience with Sage 100 or similar system, ERP background.
- Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Pre-employment background check and drug screening required.
