Apex Systems is seeking a Lab Technician near Richmond, VA for a contract to hire opportunity with an international water treatment company that specializes in industrial water and process treatment.
An ideal candidate will have :
- Familiarity with LIMS
- Knowledge & ability to perform serial dilutions
- Bachelor's degree in science Biology, Microbiology or Chemistry preferred
- Proficient in documentation, computing (Microsoft excel, word, etc.), and communication skills
- Independent lab research or intern experience
Job Details include :
- Input sample information into LIMS
- Perform microbiological analysis, including preparation of samples using aseptic techniques to identify and determine quantities of different bacterial populations (such as Pseudomonas ) and communicate with supervisor on findings
- Record and input sample data into LIMS
- Keep track of testing supply numbers and report to supervisor when supplies need to be ordered
- Keep a tidy and organized laboratory and workspace
- Attend bi-weekly department meetings
- Participate in saftey audits
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) when mandatory
- Perform additional relevant duties as assigned
- Maintain good communication with direct supervisor
