The Opportunity
This position will support the general ledger functions and those responsibilities associated with balancing, analysis, reporting, and review, through oversight, coordination with other departments, and decision-making.
This position’s focus will entail maintaining the integrity of key financial statement data as well as bringing greater efficiency to the process by analyzing general ledger accounts and related data, as well as utilizing the general ledger reconciliation process to develop financial analysis under all three accounting bases (IFRS, US GAAP, STAT).
Key aspects of this position’s responsibilities include :
- Ensuring the SAP Global Template general ledger process’ data is accurate and meets all related deliverables.
- Overseeing, analyzing, and auditing the general ledger reconciliation process including fully understanding out-of-balance conditions.
- Evaluating current processes to identify areas for improvement.
- Documenting and communicating processes / best practices to departments across the organization.
- Ensuring the team delivers quality support to our internal customers.
Responsibilities :
- Analyze, research, and resolve system defects involving the General Ledger under all three accounting bases. This entails understanding complex system landscapes, as well as interacting with various departments in resolving associated questions or issues.
- Support the SAP Global Template general ledger processes; which includes posting journal entries, reviewing suspense / clearing accounts, monitoring subledger interfaces, and analyzing assigned general ledger account variances.
- Prepare and perform variance analysis and account reconciliations on assigned financial statement categories.
- Review existing processes to identify potential improvements and / or automation to assist in meeting deadlines for financial reporting.
- Assist in creating reports, procedures, and queries to respond to user requests.
- Prepare, update, and maintain user guides and provide system training to applicable departments.
- Support special projects when assigned.
Qualifications :
- B.S. in Accounting. Minor / Masters in business management or business information systems a plus.
- Strong communication and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and bring complex issues to resolution.
- Ability to work under very tight deadlines.
- Continually seeks to improve the accuracy and efficiency of the reporting process.
- An understanding of multiple basis of accounting - Statutory, US GAAP, and IFRS.
- Advanced knowledge of Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and multi-tasking skills.
- General ledger and / or SAP system experience preferred.
- Knowledge of IBM Cognos TM1 and Power BI a plus.
