Position Title : Youth Technology Specialist
Program Name : AmeriCorps Youth Education & Enrichment at Boys & Girls Clubs of Dundee Township
Term of Service : Complete 1,200 hours as a Three Quarter Time Member between September 1st, 2024 - August 31st, 2025
Position Summary :
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Youth Technology Specialist to assist the Director of Digital Experience in managing IT support across the organization while also working directly with youth at a Boys & Girls Club site.
This unique role is divided between managing IT tickets, providing technical assistance, ensuring the smooth operation of tech devices, and supporting youth development programs.
In the IT capacity, responsibilities include creating ID employee badges, troubleshooting laptops and Chromebooks, updating technology inventory, setting up A / V for meetings and training, and preparing devices for new hires.
As part of the youth development team, the individual will supervise and engage with youth, leading technology-related workshops and activities.
They will collaborate with other specialists to design interdisciplinary projects, ensuring both educational and technical goals are met.
This role requires a balance of technical expertise and a passion for fostering youth development.
Key Responsibilities :
IT Support (10 hours / week) :
Assist the Director of Digital Experience with daily IT support and special projects.
Manage and resolve IT tickets related to technical issues.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues with laptops, Chromebooks, and other devices.
Create and print ID badges for employees.
Maintain and update the inventory of all organizational technology devices.
Set up A / V equipment for meetings and trainings.
Configure and prepare devices for new hires (Windows and Chromebook).
Assist with Apple Deployment products, Jamf Pro, and Chromebook OS deployment and repair.
Youth Education & Enrichment (12 hours / week) :
Supervise and engage with youth during program hours, ensuring a safe and positive environment.
Lead hands-on technology workshops and activities that develop digital literacy and IT skills.
Collaborate with the Build Lab and Tech Lab Specialists to design interdisciplinary projects that combine technology with hands-on learning.
Build relationships with youth, encouraging participation in club programs.
Track attendance and program participation, assist with administrative duties.
Help plan and implement club-wide events that integrate technology and youth development.
Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development sessions.
Qualifications :
Be at least 18 years of age at the commencement of service
High school diploma or equivalent required
Must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or lawful permanent resident.
Satisfy the National Service Criminal History Check eligibility criteria pursuant to 45 CFR 2540.202.
Passion for working with youth
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people.
Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings
Time Requirement :
Complete 1,200 hours during the time of service
Participate in mandatory days of service
Complete hours during direct service hours at designated site (i.e. after-school hours, no school days (if applicable), special events, family engagement activities, etc.)
Benefits :
Living allowance provided on a bi-weekly basis, $20,400 yearly gross pay.
AmeriCorps Segal Education Award upon successful completion of the program equal to $5,176.50
