The Johns Hopkins University Whiting School of Engineering, Department of Applied Mathematics and Statistics (AMS), Department of Biomedical Engineering (BMS), and Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Department of Oncology, Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center, invite applications for a tenured or tenure-track faculty position in the area of Mathematical Biology.

Preference will be given to candidates who conduct research in quantitative methods in the life sciences, including modeling and analysis of biological and physiological systems, cancer and other diseases, neuroscience, as well as genomics.

Outstanding candidates at all academic ranks will be considered. Candidates must hold a , Statistics, Biomedical Engineering or related fields, and will be expected to establish a strong, independent, multidisciplinary, and internationally recognized research program.

Commitment to teaching excellence at the undergraduate and graduate levels is required. The successful candidate will have a tenure / tenure-track home in one of the three departments.

Secondary appointments in the other two departments is possible.

Opportunities for interactions across the University include : the Malone Center for Engineering in Healthcare, Center for Computational Biology, Alliance for Cardiovascular Diagnostic and Treatment Innovation, Institute for Computational Medicine, Kavli Neuroscience Discovery Institute, Center for Imaging Sciences, Convergence Institute, and the Mathematical Institute for Data Science.

This position is part of the Fannie Gaston-Johansson Faculty of Excellence Program at Johns Hopkins University which is part of a $50 million investment that focuses on the recruitment, retention, and advancement of faculty who demonstrate a commitment to diversity and inclusive excellence as part of JHU's Second Roadmap on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.

Faculty hired into this program are known as Fannie Gaston-Johansson Professors.

This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing.

Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers.
