Senior Manager, Enterprise Communications

Fortune 100 Consumer Health Brand - New York, NY

Full Time / Direct Hire

The Hired Guns are seeking a Senior Manager, Enterprise Communications to lead strategy and develop communications initiatives that advance some of the most important, vital, and inspiring causes at the company : diversity and inclusion, women’s leadership and corporate sustainability.

Are you a corporate communications veteran who has both internal and external experience with the ability to craft compelling stories for audiences ranging from employees and alumni to consumers, Wall Street and the press?

Were you born with a collaborative streak that drives your ability to work with numerous stakeholders and partners to develop support for your strategies?

If so, this gig at one of the most highly-respected brands in the world could be the one you’ve been waiting for.

Nitty Gritty

At a company this size and in our social first world, what you communicate internally to the enterprise will move externally too.

As such, this highly-visible position calls for an experienced communications officer and storyteller who understands how to articulate a vision, develop a comms strategy and framework, and then push messaging out to the right places so that it is understood and acted upon.

You’ll work with global and divisional communications groups to identify, acknowledge and inspire advocacy efforts taking place within the company.

With the resources of a global corporation behind you, you’ll work with C-suite executive management, public affairs, human resources, media relations, employee groups and agencies to encourage employee engagement and spread the word about their efforts.

What Success Looks Like

Year one of this job is all about setting up the diversity and inclusion communications strategy, as that’s the first tent pole initiative on your docket.

Working closely with the head of D&I to build the foundation, you will have forged strong relationships with key stakeholders of great influence in the company starting with the CEO’s office, executive leadership, employee and alumni relations, business, marketing and sales heads.

You will have launched numerous external and internal communications campaigns that have raised the profile of strategic programs and measurably enhanced the company’s reputation as a leader in diversity and inclusion.

Hired Gun Profile

Communications has been your field for at least a decade if not longer, ideally at a Fortune 500 brand. You’ve mastered negotiating the byways of a multinational company, either in-house or as lead at an agency maintaining a sustained relationship with an important brand.

You have broad experience in both internal communications and external communications. (You absolutely need both for this role, which is why we’ve said it three times!) You know how to measure the results of your programs.

And you have a proven track record of garnering significant media coverage as a result of your efforts.

You love a high-energy work atmosphere and can act with agility in an environment where the ideas, drive and structure aren’t imposed from above.

It’ll be on you to light the fires and make everything happen. Most importantly, you are the kind of talented storyteller who can create, write and present compelling narratives that have real emotional resonance and societal importance.

Although you can easily lead and inspire others, you are a doer, not a delegator. And, of course, you are a master of all the aspects of your craft : multi-platform media, social, events and more.

Inside Skinny

This isn’t a nine-to-five gig. You’ll be expected to operate at a high tempo and navigate an extremely large, complex organization with professionalism and emotional intelligence.

Experience at a global brand, or with a communications agency that works with global brands, is a must, and responsibility for relationships with top-level executives will put you ahead of the crowd.

Experience with advocacy work at a foundation or nonprofit is interesting to us too. And if you have diversity & inclusion experience please call it out!

Net Net

This is a highly visible, career-making role that will help to ensure the advancement of women and the success of diversity and inclusion efforts within an organization with global influence and brand recognition.

Your successes will have ripple effects across the enterprise and far beyond.

All qualified applicants will receive consideration without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, creed, age, sexual orientation, veteran status, marital status, disability, or any other status protected by applicable law.
