Job Responsibilities

The Division of Rheumatology seeks a highly motivated, organized, and detail-oriented individual to assist in several important aspects of conducing patient-oriented research.

This person will research, identify, and test methods to recruit and retain patients and increase engagement in research and education for rare rheumatic diseases.

This position is also responsible for creating and implementing internal and external communication strategies including high quality content for multiple departmental research websites, an external patient-focused website, support for social marketing and special events, and other duties linked to projects conducted through online research platform.

Additionally, this person will manage the fast-paced, day-to-day operations of multiple clinical trials and translational research projects including screening, recruitment, and enrollment of study participants in accordance with study protocols;

scheduling and conducting research visits; and managing regulatory submissions and approvals.

Position Contingent Upon Funding

DUTIES :

Target patients and a well-established network of supporters and partners, draft and edit content to support communications and marketing efforts, including constituent correspondence, news articles, program updates, website copy, social media content, and marketing materials.

Assist in developing multi-media approaches to increase global exposure of an established online repository of patient-generated data used for research and education.

Design and implement strategies to maximize patient recruitment, retention, and engagement in online and in-person vasculitis research studies.

Build and maintain webpages to ensure accurate and up-to-date content.

Assist in the logistics, coordination, promotion, and completion of investigator-focused and patient education events.

Screen, recruit, consent, and enroll study participants as specified per protocol and GCP guidelines. Schedule and conduct participant visits and any necessary testing / specimen collection.

Obtain, handle, process, and ship biospecimens, including blood, urine, and tissue.

Prepare and process Institutional Review Board (IRB) documentation including initial submissions, continuing reviews, amendments, and adverse event reporting.

Coordinate, organize, complete, and maintain source documents, case report forms, regulatory documents, and participant binders in accordance with ALCOA-C.

Enter data in electronic data capture systems. Perform data QC and address queries.

Preferred :

Outstanding attention to detail, organizational and time-management skills; the ability to manage multiple responsibilities including daily tasks and planning for longer-term tasks;

outstanding communication, writing, and interpersonal skills; and the ability to work both autonomously and within a team are all essential for this position.

Individual must be comfortable communicating with diverse audiences. Previous experience in a clinical research environment.

Proficiency in WordPress or similar content management platforms, social media platforms (Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, TikTok), and knowledgeable about emerging technologies, trends, and best practices in web development, user experience, and digital platform management.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science and 2 to 3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
