Overview

The Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards is seeking applicants for a Student Conduct Coordinator position. The incumbent will serve as the primary coordinator for Residence Life misconduct that is also a Student Code of Conduct violation.

The Coordinator will provide support to students and staff for behavior conflict resolution with the goal of ensuring a safe and respectful campus living environment.

The Coordinator will focus on student accountability, education, student development, and community safety and well-being.

Secondarily, the Coordinator will assist, investigate, and adjudicate allegations of student misconduct; this includes cases involving student organizations, serious violations of Residence Life policies, and academic and behavioral misconduct by individuals.

The Coordinator is an integral part of the Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards, and the ideal candidate in this role should have a welcoming and professional presence that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and thoughtfulness.

The Coordinator maintains highly confidential student conduct files following current state and federal guidelines.

Responsibilities

These essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following. Additional essential functions may be identified and included by the hiring department.

  • Determines if the Student Code of Conduct was violated by investigating allegations, meeting with involved parties, collecting relevant information, and weighing evidence regarding alleged Student Code violations.
  • Holds students accountable for their actions when appropriate and assesses and monitors effective sanctions as appropriate.
  • Conducts educational conferences with students, using the principles of restorative justice.
  • Connects students to university resources to aid their success through proper referrals.
  • Consults / collaborates with other appropriate university departments and faculty, staff,?administrators, and students on all other cases.
  • Conducts administrative reviews or disciplinary hearings as needed.
  • Conducts Hearing Board training.
  • Stays current on Student Conduct trends in sanctioning and educational outcomes.
  • Assists with the overall management of the Student Conduct system (Maxient).
  • Support the administration of the student conduct process by serving as a case manager for cases involving allegations of general, substance use, and academic misconduct
  • Sanctions students appropriately for Academic Misconduct, General Misconduct, and participates in sanction decisions for Sexual Misconduct.
  • Coordinates student educational and disciplinary actions with university offices, such as Residence Life, Academic Affairs, University Office of
  • General Counsel, and / or University Police
  • Serves as part of the team responsible for responding to inquiries regarding the student conduct program
  • As needed, coordinates and delivers training, workshops, academic integrity presentations and follows-up as appropriate.
  • Participate in unit / department, division, and university programs, initiatives, and / or committees.
  • Performs miscellaneous job duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements :

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education plus experience is required.
  • Demonstrated experience with and commitment to working effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, in support of an inclusive and welcoming environment

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Master's degree in higher education, student affairs, counseling, or related field
  • One year experience in student conduct administration, preferably in residence life conduct
  • Direct experience managing a caseload or other experience that demonstrates strong organizational skills and the ability to balance priorities and meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in Maxient (case management software)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Ability to analyze problems and make well-reasoned, sound decisions
  • Knowledge of the student development theory and its application to student conduct administration
  • Ability to compile data, understand it, and present i
  • Knowledge of federal laws, state laws, and mandates including Title IX of the Higher Education Act, Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, American Disabilities Act, Higher Education Act of America, Jeanne Clery Act, and the Drug-Free Schools Act
  • Ability to work with and maintain high integrity in working with confidential information
  • Awareness of current issues in higher education
