Join The Doe Fund on our mission to break the cycles of homelessness, addiction, and recidivism. Our flagship Ready, Willing & Able (RWA) program provides paid transitional work experience, transitional housing, advanced occupational training, and comprehensive supportive services to individuals experiencing homelessness.
The Doe Fund is also one of New York City’s largest nonprofit developers of permanent affordable and supportive housing, with more than 1,900 units in operation or pre-development.
The Doe Fund has an annual operating budget of $73 million and a full-time staff of nearly 500, a significant portion of whom are graduates of our programs.
The Doe Fund is seeking a dedicated, dynamic and experienced professional with a proven track record in connecting New Yorkers to services to join our team in a newly created role, Community Connections Liaison.
Reporting to the President / CEO, the Community Connections Liaison will lead The Doe Fund’s initiative to support past RWA program participants, including graduates, in continuing to build brighter futures.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for connecting past RWA participants, including graduates, to essential services within the community, leveraging our network of partners to offer "warm" referrals, and ensuring that our recipients receive comprehensive support.
This role is crucial in facilitating successful connections and supporting our mission of helping individuals achieve economic independence and self-sufficiency.
Key Responsibilities :
Service Connection and Referrals
Administer a survey to past RWA participants, including graduates, to learn how they are doing and what, if any, support they are interested in
Analyze results of the survey and design programming to respond to the needs expressed in survey (may include referrals to food pantries, soup kitchens, advanced occupational trainings, education, housing, benefits)
Connect past RWA participants, including graduates, to appropriate services within the community
Leverage the Doe Fund's network of partners to provide "warm" referrals to trusted services and research other referral sources
Ensure participants are fully informed about alternative service offerings.
Facilitate introductions between participants and outside service providers.
Follow up with referral partners and participants to ensure successful connections and intervene if necessary.
Build upon existing Community Resource Guide
Represent The Doe Fund to community partners, cultivating existing relationships and building new ones
Training and Support
Engage and partner with case managers, workforce development staff, education staff, legal staff, housing staff and others to be successful and impactful with this initiative
Facilitate virtual sessions on topics such as resume writing and interview preparation when participants can’t participate in our onsite offerings.
Create and implement appropriate programming to support graduates and other past participants
Manage interns who will support initiative
Documentation and Reporting
Track all interactions and referrals in the database.
Document all activities and compile quarterly reports.
Assess data and write reports on the effectiveness of different approaches.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Human Services, or a related field.
Strong understanding of community resources and service providers in NYC.
Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in data management and reporting.
Excellent follow up skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Commitment to the mission of The Doe Fund.
At least 10 years experience in human services.
