ROLE of the POSITION
Reporting to the Director of Communications within University Libraries, the Events and Social Media Coordinator is responsible for event planning, operations, logistics, and vendor relations.
- Tasks include : coordinating pre-event planning meetings; planning event details and aspects including room setup, media support, registration, catering, and parking;
- creating and maintaining event timelines; maintaining event budgets; coordinating room reservations; initiating and monitoring events’ contracts and compliance;
- managing events onsite (including operational oversight, coordination with sponsors, partners, service providers, and vendors, and handling any potential problems that may arise);
coordinating post-event debriefings; collecting data and writing reports assessing events; and timely communication and information sharing with all stakeholders throughout the lifecycle of each event.
This position occasionally requires evening and weekend work.
In addition to events work, the position will assist in executing the University Libraries’ social media strategy through storytelling and content creation.
This position will help expand the University Libraries social media presence on new and emerging platforms by using trends effectively to represent the University Libraries brand.
The position will research, plan, create, edit, organize, and post digital content including videos, photos, and graphics.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and / or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) .
Credentials must be obtained prior to the start date.
- Competence and sensitivity in working with individuals who are highly diverse regarding many facets of identity, including but not limited to gender, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, ability, income, level of educational attainment, and religion.
- 1 to 3 years of experience working in event planning, marketing, advertising, digital marketing, communications or a related field
- Knowledge of multimedia editing tools including Adobe Photoshop, After Effects, Premiere, and other technologies and the ability to tell stories visually.
- Demonstrated copywriting and editing skills
- Exhibits strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
- Excellent attention to detail, accuracy and timeliness
- Proficient in Microsoft office and Google Suite
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience managing social media accounts for brands or organizations
- Experience working in higher education

SALARY
This is a full-time, 12-month, Administrative Faculty position at a Grade B. Minimum salary is $53,000. Salary is competitive with those at similarly situated institutions and dependent upon the labor market.
