Villa Academy seeks a full-time Middle School Science and Math Teacher to join its team beginning August 20, 2024. This educator will be teaching our science and math curriculum to students in grades Sixth through Eighth.

This role will incorporate project-based learning into the classroom along with experiential learning throughout our beautiful campus.

This is a ten-month, non-exempt position that follows the academic calendar, reporting to the Director of Middle School.

The ideal candidate is a dynamic, student-centered individual eager to share their experience, enthusiasm, and expertise in independent school middle grades science education.

They will inspire students, faculty / staff, and families to learn and grow, and will enjoy working within a team setting of shared ideas and constructive feedback.

They will lead with great initiative and cultural humility and have keen problem-solving and communication skills.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Teach three sections of Middle School Science and one section of Middle School Math, to students in grades Sixth through Eighth.
  • Incorporate aspects of mathematics and research such as statistics, technology, and inquiry-based instruction in all courses.
  • Serve as a Middle School Advisor, overseeing the academic and social growth of 10 to 12 students.
  • Support the development of the whole child through the creation of an inclusive classroom that welcomes a diversity of life experiences and learning profiles.
  • Collaborate with the other Science and Math teachers, as well as the whole Middle School team, to facilitate the creation of a dynamic, inquiry-based classroom.
  • Assess, evaluate, and provide feedback on student performance.
  • Partner with families, colleagues, and administration to appropriately challenge and support students.
  • Communicate clearly, kindly, productively, and effectively with families.
  • Commit to the mission, vision, and values of Villa Academy.

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • A Bachelor's degree in education, science, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 2+ years of Science teaching experience, preferably with Middle School students.
  • Strong knowledge of core science and math topics, best practices in science and math pedagogy, Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and technology integration.
  • Appreciation and enjoyment of Middle School students and understanding of their learning and development.
  • Experience with and excitement for interdisciplinary, project-based learning.
  • A willingness and enthusiasm for making Villa Academy’s outdoor spaces an integral part of the curriculum and instruction.
  • Positive energy and enthusiasm for working in a Preschool through Eighth Grade, faith-based independent school.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional growth, curiosity, cultural humility, and antiracism, as well as an understanding of its critical role in academic excellence and student growth.

SALARY RANGE AND BENEFITS :

Anticipated salary ranges between $51,501.73 118,430.02 / year, dependent upon education and experience . Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, degrees, and certifications.
