American Express’ Global Advertising & Brand Management (GABM) team is responsible for creating marketplace demand and driving commerce for American Express through differentiated and innovative branding, marketing, and experiences.

Within GABM sits the Global Brand Strategy & Insights team, responsible for defining & accelerating the Amex Brand Strategy, delivering consumer insights, and elevating tools and learnings for the global Marketing Community.

Our team is looking for an experienced Director US B2B Marketing Insights. In this role the colleague will be asked to manage a team of research and insights professionals that work on initiatives that drive strategy and provide recommendations in support of key business decisions across the Global Commercial Services (GCS) organization.

The person will be asked to make connections across B2B marketing and products teams to drive growth, and work with B2C insights teams to provide an enterprise perspective.

This position reports to the VP US Product and Marketing Insights.

How will you make an impact in this role?

Primary Responsibilities Include :

  • Partner with American Express’s US GCS stakeholders to deliver against key strategic priorities, using Voice of the Costumer (VOC) insights that pertain to small, medium, and large businesses.
  • Manage a team of highly skilled and motivated insights professionals with a proven track record of strategic thought-leadership and the ability to galvanize others around shared outcomes (increased acquisition, revenue, share of wallet, etc.).
  • Help design a research and insights roadmap that leverages both primary and secondary sources, while incorporating the external perspective.

Qualifications

Research Expertise :

  • Proven track record in leveraging insights to influence and develop strategy to drive business outcomes.
  • Takes a consultative approach; helps to articulate and prioritize information needs and translate into researchable’ objectives.
  • Has strong analytical skills with ability to design research programs and methods to address business needs; can articulate rationale (the why behind a given recommendation).
  • Deep knowledge of the small business landscape a plus.

Leadership :

  • Proactive, assertive leader comfortable working in a highly collaborative cross-functional environment.
  • Ability to work with ambiguity and make connections of key strategic priorities.
  • Able to manage goals and develop the careers of team members on an ongoing basis.
  • Able to prioritize project requests to fit the strategic research needs of the GCS organization while considering those that have the greatest impact on the enterprise.

Relationship Building :

  • Can effectively build relationships, partner, influence, and negotiate with stakeholders at all levels (i.e. BU, Dir, VP, SVP)
  • Is a strong strategic thinker with an ability to create clarity in the midst of ambiguity by focusing on meaningful outcomes.
  • Has executive presence with high degree of comfort in working with and presenting to senior leaders.

Additional Qualifications :

  • 10+ years in consumer insights / market research, with emphasis on quantitative market research leveraging advanced analytics (including conjoint, segmentation, TURF, etc.).
  • Mix of research or ad agency and client-side experience a plus.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with exceptional ability to inspire action and compelling recommendations.
  • Marketing or market research related post-graduate degree a plus.
  • Strengths in analytics and storytelling to turn research results into insights that influence business decisions.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously to embed insights into marketing.
  • Experience managing a marketing or research budget a plus.
  • Strong computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).

Salary Range : $130,000.00 to $205,000.00 annually + bonus + equity (if applicable) + benefits

The above represents the expected salary range for this job requisition. Ultimately, in determining your pay, we’ll consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors.
