WORK SCHEDULE : Monday through Friday 8 : 30pm - 5 : 00pm

COMPENSATION : $38.30 / hour + DOE + Benefits, Exempt Position

SUMMARY OF POSITION :

Under the supervision of the External Relations Coordinator, the Community Outreach Coordinator will plan develop, and facilitate cooperative extension and institutional advancement programming to youth and adult populations that supports Iḷisaġvik College's mission, vision, and goals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Maintains cooperative working relations with key partners to manage and enhance services to local, regional, statewide, and international partners.
  • Coordinates and oversees grants to ensure project directives are according to regulations and budgetary compliance.
  • Works closely with the Iḷisaġvik College grants employee(s).
  • Documents Cooperative Extension related programming, such as the number of workshops provided, participant numbers, and other necessary details.
  • Designs learning plans / strategies in cooperation with villages across the North Slope to support cooperative extension goals and priorities selects appropriate materials and instructional method for the program.
  • Plan, coordinate and facilitate a variety of cultural workshops for youth and adult populations in Utqiaġvik and outlying villages.
  • Collects evaluative feedback from students and community regarding effectiveness and appropriateness of program offerings.
  • Serves actively on relevant college and community committees, including but not limited to the Unapologetically Iñupiaq Core Team.
  • Works with marketing to develop marketing materials to support programming needs.
  • Assists the Student Services Department staff with year-round youth outreach and summer camp programming that includes : recruitment, planning, academic, and recreational activities for students.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours and travel periodically.
  • Provides support to Iñupiaq Studies for events such as the Iñupiaq Cultural Hour and Iḷisaġvik Orientation as needed.
  • Complies with College policies, procedures and administrative directives, as well as state, federal, and local laws, regulations, and ordinances.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES :

  • Demonstrated skills and experience in higher education project management, problem and data analysis, and planning; skills and experience in devising innovative solutions to complex problems.
  • Ability to extract, interpret, and represent regional higher education goals and achievements in cogent, focused reports.
  • Demonstrated word processing, spreadsheet, PowerPoint, and internet research skills.
  • Familiarity with Alaska Native culture, Alaska rural life and higher education or vocational training processes, and ability to include these community values, customs, and beliefs for the project.
  • Excellent oral, written, interpersonal, and presentation communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of computer applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively in a multicultural environment, including working with various cultural organizations and community cultural experts.
  • Demonstrated stable employment history.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to travel periodically.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in one or more of the following areas : post-secondary educational systems, North Slope Borough NSB institutions and organizations;

Iñupiat culture, language, values, and traditions.

  • Ability to interpret and represent North Slope community values, customs, and beliefs for the College.
  • Ability to interpret and represent College actions and western institutions to the North Slope community.
  • Ability to support Iḷisaġvik College's mission.

EDUCATION / / CERTIFICATES / TRAINING Required :

Associates' degree in education, public administration, sociology, business or related field.

EDUCATION / CERTIFICATES / TRAINING Preferred :

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education, public administration, sociology, business or related field.
  • Valid driver's license.

Iḷisaġvik College offers health insurance to our employees with a no cost premium, and $50 / pay period for each additional dependent and a low cost annual deductible of $200 for employee only and $600 for family.

Life Insurance - Iḷisaġvik College offers Life Insurance and Accidental Death & Dismemberment coverage through Guardian Life to employees at no cost to the employee in the amount of $100,000 / per benefit.
