This position will be working in a niche market within our Personal Lines Division. The person in this position will be working with affluent clientele on high value product placement.
This position will review, analyze, and inspect insurance applications along with collecting competitive data.
Job Responsibilities :
- Comprehend and maintain underwriting manuals for all companies represented
- Provide quotes for various lines of business including home, auto, excess, and valuables
- Able to discuss team goals and actively participate in monthly team meetings
- Adhere to company-wide service standards
- Demonstrate ability to work in a team with shared goals
- Serve as resource and trainer to Associate Underwriters
- Assist Associate Underwriters as needed including, but not limited to, inspection review and remarketing
- Knowledge of the independent agency system and economics - assess the ever-changing market, territory and individual agencies to identify growth opportunities.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with business partners
- Demonstrate accountability for the assigned territory by being innovative and identifying opportunities for growth
- Travel to both agency and carrier conventions
- Perform agency visits to solicit feedback on programs, service, etc.
- Achieve mutually agreed upon goals for agency visits and sales calls
- Obtain competitor data to analyze how our programs fit with regards to :
o Rate, Policy Form, Ease of Use etc.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.
Education and Work Experience :
- 2 to 3 years of insurance experience, underwriting experience preferred
- AND an RMI degree or CPCU, or PLCS, or a graduate degree
- OR 3 years of experience in P&C Underwriting or related field
- Personal Lines experience with affluent clientele experience is preferred.

- Basic knowledge of affluent client base and high value products
- Basic knowledge of Personal Lines Products - ability to differentiate J&J products / services from competitors.
- Strong negotiation skills.
Typical Physical Demands :
Requires the ability to sit or stand for long periods of time, occasional stooping, and reaching; May require lifting-up to 25 pounds;
