Work you'll do / Responsibilities

As a Database lead, you will be responsible for managing and leading the Database team within the Database Operations Capability and Cloud (AWS, GCP and Azure).

The applications are often high-volume mission critical systems and would provide you an exposure to a broad range of technologies across all layers of architecture in the DB stack.

You will work with functional and technical teams on projects located across shores. You will need to understand functional requirements and should be able to develop technical design, using design patterns and be able to communicate the same effectively to the team members.

  • Must have core database expertise in MS SQL Administration and should know basics of other database engines such as Oracle, MySQL, DB2, PostgreSQL etc.
  • Install and maintain the performance of database servers.
  • Develop processes for optimizing database security.
  • Set and maintain database standards.
  • Manage database access.
  • Performance tuning of database systems.
  • Install, upgrade, and manage database applications.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot database errors.
  • Recommend and implement emerging database technologies.
  • Communicate regularly with Engagement Managers (Directors), project team members, and representatives from various functional and / or technical teams, including escalating any matters that require additional attention and consideration from engagement management.

  • Foundry Services : Operate services providing flexible, recurring resource capacity for client initiatives, projects, tasks, and enhancement
  • Managed Services : Operate services that provide ongoing maintenance, monitoring, and optimization for IT / Engineering applications & products

Qualifications

Required

  • 4+ years of Database support
  • Good knowledge on MS SQL, Oracle DB administration
  • Good knowledge of Cloud based Databases (CloudSQL, RDS etc)
  • Good knowledge on Microsoft SQL Server Database Administration
  • Expertise in Analysis, designing and implementing Backup / Restore and Disaster recovery strategies and solutions
  • Experienced in cloning, log shipping, archiving in SQL servers
  • Experience working with support vendors, application owners, infrastructure teams
  • Hands-on experience in SQL, query optimization, performance tuning & indexing.
  • Hands-on experience in clustering, log shipping, replication techniques
  • Knowledge to automate the activities like DB Creation, Patching and Health Check
  • Knowledge and worked on implementing right Security policies and procedures
  • Validated knowledge on capacity management and know how to optimize it
  • Knowledge and worked on the process and procedures related to DR Activity
  • Basic Unix shell scripting skills
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or related IT discipline;

or equivalent experience

  • Limited immigration sponsorship may be available.
  • Ability to travel 10%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries / sectors you serve
