Position Summary
The Admin Support Specialist provides full administrative support for Public Safety which includes the departments of University Police, Emergency Management, and Transportation.
The employee provides supports in managing calendaring, travel authorizations / reimbursement paperwork, financial paperwork and reporting, and confidential projects.
This position requires constant professional-level interaction with university students, staff, faculty and visitors. Additionally, this position assists with aspects of office management and related record keeping, accounts payable and receivable for all areas of Public Safety.
This position will assist the ECC supervisor in conducting and documenting training, maintaining training records, coordinating training, and serving as agency ATAC.
This position is expected to assist as a telecommunicator and to fill in as needed, which may include limited holidays, weekends, or nights.
The Admin Support Specialist shall be trained and competent in all ECC programs usage and operation. The employee must maintain a valid DCI certification and complete yearly in-service training as well as any other certifications needed.
Assist with the management of the agency motor fleet, including invoicing, billing and coordinating maintenance. The employee in this position is expected to maintain confidentiality and discretion.

or equivalent combination of training and experience. Preferred Education / Experience / Skills A Bachelor’s Degree and 3-5 years of administrative and office management experience is preferred.
Strong written and verbal communications skills, experience with various office technologies such as Word, Excel, Access, Google Suite, Adobe, PowerPoint, and website maintenance, and a willingness to learn are also desired.
Experience in budget and fund management is preferred.
Previous experience with the Banner system is preferred.Ability to manage multiple priorities.
Previous experience working in higher education and emergency communications dispatch experience is a plus.
Must be a Notary Public in North Carolina or be able to obtain such certification. Work Schedule and Hours Typical hours are Monday through Friday from 8 : 00 a.
m. to 5 : 00 p.m. However, to meet the department’s needs, evenings, weekends, mandatory staffing days, or early mornings may be needed.
