Description :
The Strategic Sourcing Specialist is responsible for evaluating markets, and analyzing pricing and deliveries for materials and equipment.
Their primary goal is to achieve cost savings through improved specifications and effective supervision of supply sources.
By evaluating contracts and vendors, they ensure that packaging solutions are procured in a timely and cost-efficient manner.
Additionally, they drive reporting and tracking for assigned spend categories, continuously optimizing packaging solutions to align with organizational goals and efficiency targets.
Responsibilities :
- Market Research and Vendor Identification :
- Conduct ongoing market research to identify potential vendors.
- Maintain knowledge of market and industry trends.
- Establish connections with these vendors.
- Supplier Sourcing :
- Find new packaging suppliers (and occasionally ingredient suppliers) for new projects.
- Identify backup suppliers for existing packaging items.
- Source new cost-effective suppliers for existing items.
- Evaluate candidates based on capabilities (manufacturing location, warehousing, lead time, colors, industrial volume, .
- Request quotes, review and compare them, selecting serious candidates for further trials with the R&D team.
- Material Procurement :
- Collaborate with R&D to organize material purchases for trials.
- Vendor Relationship Management :
- Attend meetings with vendors and take minutes.
- Establish beneficial relationships and purchase agreements with suppliers.
- Forecasting and Database Management :
- Assist with periodic forecasting analysis.
- Review annual needs :
- Update relevant databases in the ERP system (including cost updates for existing items and new item costs).
- Cost Determination and Process Improvement :
- Participate in standard cost determination.
- Help implement Material Requirements Planning (MRP).
- Perform routine administrative tasks for the department.
- Contribute to building tools that improve overall department functioning and reporting.
