The ideal corporate paralegal will have the duties skills :
- Provide legal and administrative support to Senior Legal Counsel in South Florida,
- Responsibility over commercial transactions / claims and litigation, environmental claims and litigation, intellectual property, and government affairs.
- Assist in review and response to claims with respect to commercial and environmental disputes.
- Preparation of initial transactional documents including reviewing claims, researching transaction documents, researching legal issues, drafting basic commercial agreements, negotiating and drafting settlement agreements and preparing releases.
preparing chronologies, Paralegal will also perform administrative assistant duties for Senior Legal counsel, including preparation of expense reports, travel arrangements, filing, procuring office supplies and scheduling of meetings.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Conducts in-depth legal research and analyzes law sources such as statutes, judicial decisions, legal articles and / or codes.
- Collaborates with sales staff to review revisions.
- Reviews and Redlines routine and recurring contracts and other legal documents, including NDAs, service contracts, terms of RFP, RFI, RFQ and subconsultant contracts;
summarizes potential concerns and issues.
- Researches, reviews and prepares written responses to claims from third-party or government agencies.
- May conduct interviews to gather legal information or confer with personnel in other departments and outside the organization while performing research or other legal responsibilities.
- Reviews and prepares written summaries of regulations or legislative bills.
- Maintains files, and may organize meeting minutes, and exhibits.
- Researches, reviews and prepares written responses to claims from third-party or government agencies.
- Summarizes hearings, depositions, arbitration transcripts, index arbitration decisions and briefs. Prepares routine and complex legal documents.
- Assists attorneys with complex caseload research, subject and topic research and briefings of court cases.
- Assists in implementation of Legal related processes and technologies.
- Maintains statistical and documented information related to cases and / or Company issues. Works with appropriate departments / functions within the Company to ensure implementation of policies or actions when necessary.
- Responds to questions, subpoenas, requests for records, legal documentation / contracts and / or other requests from outside counsel and Company management.
Disseminates requests and related information as required and / or directed.
Works with the e-discovery team to establish litigation holds and assist with document review as needed for legal proceedings.
Liaison to outside counsel as needed.Coordinates reporting from outside counsel and consultants. May assist in-house attorneys in cost management regarding outside vendors and law firms.
Ensure compliance with corporate policies and procedures, including the signing authority policy.
Qualifications :
Education and Experience
- Education : 4 year degree a big +
- Experience : Four years of relevant work experience (in addition to education requirements)
- Extremely detailed and organization
- Paralegal ABA accredited certificate a big +
- Proactive, team player
- Strong experience in knowledge with Microsoft office products
- Experience with case or matter management systems and reporting tools
