Outreach Information Technology is seeking a Systems Engineer to be part of our team that provides technology services support to all units within the division of University Outreach! - Design, develop, test, and maintain applications and physical systems.
- Gather and provide input on functional specifications and requirements.
- Support client questions / issues regarding applications and / or systems issues and availability and develop and maintain client documentation.
- Perform other related technical support for the division.

- Serves as primary for architecture, development, deployment, and maintenance of University Outreach site including skills with html coding, Dreamweaver, Cascade and / or WordPress.
- Installing, updating, and remediating multiuser operating systems including Mac OS, Windows desktop and server.
- Serve as backup for server system administration and security for non-credit registration system.
- Developing and deploying generalized OS layouts for end points using InTune and JAMF.
- Processing monthly security reports and remediation of security incidents.
- Liaison with manufacturers, vendors, and University services to resolve warranty issues, repairs, maintenance, and returns.
- Provide assistance to staff and faculty for equipment installation, relocation, and upgrades; this duty will include moderate physical activity involved by equipment setup in offices.
- Provides high-quality customer service through courteous and professional communication.
- Supports and maintains effective relationships with consistent follow-up and documentation.
- Provides advanced technical support to the University Outreach constituents to integrate new technology and resolve issues.
- Accurately documents request history and escalates advanced second- and third-tier requests to the appropriate technical personnel.
- May provide input into hardware and software evaluation or testing to ensure IT needs specific to the project are considered throughout the process as well as ensure proper
integration with existing processes and procedures.
- Serves as a team leader on special projects.
- Coordinates and assists with the deployment of new applications, resources, and tools.
- Manages oversight, compliance, creation, and issuance of micro-credentials for division.
Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Systems Engineer (MA46) :
High school diploma and 11 years of relevant experience OR
Associate’s degree and 7 years of experience OR
Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of experience.
The salary grade for this level is $55,300 to $94,000
Area of required Experience :
Relevant IT experience in the administration of distributed computer systems

- Ability to provide support in workflows, integrated systems, and requests for technology assistance to include quality and robust information technology services to constituents.
- Ability to effectively manage high workload capacity in diverse environment and pay attention to detail, prioritize tasks / requests, take ownership, and finalize completion of requests timely and correctly.
- Ability to practice situational awareness, effective communication and good listening skills with end users, campus clients and team members.
- Advanced understanding of server infrastructure and operating systems.
- Ability to test and troubleshoot vulnerabilities in software and hardware.
- Ability to implement software and upgrade firmware.
- Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.
- Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
- Ability to provide excellent customer service to constituents.
- Skills in html coding, Dreamweaver, Cascade and / or WordPress in maintenance and creation of website architecture.
- Skills in critical thinking in examining and considering new and alternative avenues to achieve success for end clients when analyzing problems, identifying root causes and proposing innovative solutions.
Minimum Technology Skills
- Since this position will function in a team, good interpersonal communication skills are necessary.
- You will be exposed to quickly evolving technology, so a strong desire to learn is needed.
- In-depth understanding of the business environment of a large university system including an in-depth understanding of the University system, its policies, and its operating procedures.
- Advanced knowledge of information technology concepts and terminology, desktop OS and supported software applications, MDM solutions like JAMF and InTune for Apple management, network fundamentals, IP protocol, and fundamental troubleshooting techniques.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues with voice communications.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
