2200004B Requisition # ???? ? ? ? 2 hours ago Post Date The Safety Manager develops, implements, and leads safety initiative across assigned locations / areas and in coordination with the EHS / Risk Management organization, to create and maintain a safety driven culture.
In coordination with site and department management, the Safety Manager is responsible for building capability and providing subject matter expertise and functional support for field-based employees and other assigned areas of focus for the organization.
This role reports to the VP, Human Resources and partners with all departments within the Company to assist in the implementation and management of programs and trainings.
Job Responsibilities :
Partners cross-functionally, define business requirements for safety program focused on field-based (Merchandisers, Sales employees, Drivers) employees for the organization.
Create and program manage initiatives to improve driver safety performance.
- Works with stakeholders to drive continuous improvement related to accident reduction, incident reduction, to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Develop and implement strategies to reduce vehicle accidents, and workplace accidents and injuries for assigned areas.
- Analyze and present safety performance data, identifying performance improvement opportunities through root cause analysis and implement solutions for assigned areas.
- Develop and deploy driver safety awareness and compliance training programs as appropriate to all levels of the organization.
- Train and educate drivers in proper safety procedures, safe work practices and policies.
- Develops, implements, and administers written safety policies and procedures, for assigned areas, designed to ensure compliance with the provisions of applicable federal state occupational safety laws and regulations (e.g., DOT, OSHA).
- Works with facility, field sales and fleet personnel to ensure DOT, RCRA, and OSHA compliance.
- Investigates vehicle accidents, occupational illnesses, injuries, and accidents to identify root cause and implement appropriate post-accident training, and corrective actions.
- Collaborates in the development, management, and administration of the Occupational Safety and Health Program; works closely with EHS organization to formulate safety and health policies and procedures;
conducts vehicle inspections, safety audits and inspections; proactively identifies unsafe conditions and unsafe acts / behaviors and develops appropriate responses.
- Supports the management of ergonomic, ammonia, wastewater, storm water and other compliance programs.
- Partner in the development of compliance policy and training (e.g., driver safety training, vehicle accident investigation training, substance abuse training) and provides policy oversight and communication to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and internal company policy;
recommends policy changes to Vice-President, Human Resources.
- Ensures the organization is compliant with all applicable Federal / State / Local Laws and licensing requirements and policy requirements and includes assessed site EHS risks and management of compliance calendars and actions.
- Maintains confidentiality of financial information, insurance and litigation documents, employee information (e.g. wage information, discipline, health information) and other sensitive and confidential information.
- Works assigned schedule, exhibits regular and predictable attendance and works outside of normal schedule as required to meet workload demands.
Performs other related duties as required.
Skills and Abilities
Education : Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health and Safety or related field required;
Experience : Minimum of 5-7 years experience in risk management / occupational safety capacity required; knowledge of DOT regulations preferred.
Computer Skills : Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Access and pivot tables.
Certifications & Licenses : Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable to operate a vehicle as a condition of initial and continued employment.
Other Requirements : Knowledge of : beverage industry; Microsoft Office Suite including Access; ADP Vantage HRIS. Skill in : internal customer service.
